I mix weapons in the forge due to the cost of crafting certain things. Without any code of the inner workings of the mystic forge this is just a random comment, but from my testing mainly mixing a combination of shortbows/longbows to create the randomizing effect i seem to get many offhand items over any other item in return.

Greatswords and staffs seem to be on the lower return rate of some combinations in that I might only get 1 of either out of any 20 combines where i will have mulitple horns/foci/torches.

Anyone else doing the same

Yeah, I don’t usually put stuff in the MF but most of the time when I put random armor or weapons, I get a focus.

The general rules that I have found are as follows:
4 of the same item category (weapons, armor) gives the same category
4 of the same type within a category (helm, staff, dagger, etc) gives that type
A mix of categories gives a random item.

I haven’t noticed a bias towards any specific item types.

For me, upgrade from green→rare or rare→ exotic seems to be 15-20%.
