Hello there!

I been playing this game since last summer and now I decided to craft my own legendary (Twilight) for my warrior. It seems like pretty long way so Id like to ask for some tips on stuff like:

1. What should be the order of crafting gifts?
2. What currency is best to buy Obsidian shards?
3. What should be my daily focus in game? I have like 3-5 hours to spend in game each day and I would like to use the time to progress towards legendary.
4. How do I choose which stats will weapon have?

I currently only have Bloodstone shard, Gift of exploration and Gift of Battle.

Save money for your precursor first. The rest of the item you can get slowly. The t6 item you will have to buy eventually. This is no way to easily get a precursor. Other than that try to make 1-2hrs a day where you just farm for money. Legendaries can be all stats so the only issue is what sigil you want to use. http://gw2legendary.com/ to keep up with you legendary progress. Gift of fortune has greatly increased in price since I made a legendary 850g for it.

you can change a legendary’s stats any time you are ooc, so you don’t have to worry about that. It’s been a while, but I think you just double-click the legendary and a menu will pop up, you select the stat type, then accept.

My suggestion for order of stuff to get:
1) World completion, dungeon gift (500 dungeon tokens), Gift of Battle, Bloodstone Shard
2) gold
3) precursor
4) Icy Runestones
5) Mystic Clovers
6) Obsidian Shards, Gift of Mastery
7) Gift of precursor, Gift of Fortune
8) Legendary

The point is to do all the time-gated stuff first, while saving everything for future stuff. Basically, there isn’t any point to having a gift of fortune sitting around collecting dust while you’re running world completion, getting more materials that could of gone into that gift.

As for what you should do to get everything, I leave that up to you
good spots to get karma (obsidian shards) and skill points: underleveled fotm, wvw follow a commander with a big zerg
do not try to gamble to get the precursor in the MF. buy it off the TP. place a buy order and babysit it (offer 1c more than the current highest offer, and update it once an hour). You’ll get it within a day.

Definitely do the clovers before you buy any t6 mats because every time you “fail” for clovers you can/will get t6 mats.

Go for Gift of Mastery first. This is the gift that can’t be bought with gold. Then work on your mystic clovers. This will take a lot of karma and a lot of skill points.

I would also advise early on to start running Ascalonian Catacombs and Twilight Arbor (forward and up). You only need to do 8 explorable runs of AC, but if you enjoy it the money is good and you might find it more enjoyable than farming. Twilight Arbor you don’t need to do at all, but you get the occasional obsidian core and lodestone drop, which will be useful.

Keep an eye out for the golem mark 2 world boss event. Near that event is a rich platinum vein. You will need 1,000 platinum ore for your gift of metal, so don’t let an opportunity to mine it go by.

Mainly, keep accumulating gold and keep track of what you need. Aside from the precursor hold off on buying anything from the trading post until the end because you want to use as many drops as you can to craft your legendary. There is no point buying 100 hardened leather 2 months before you’ll be able to get your gift of fortune, because a whole lot of leather will drop for you in that time.

A lot of conflicting information here, but it’s all opinion.

Take it from someone who has crafted 6 legendaries.

Assorted tips:
-Save the precursor for last, especially with precursor quests/crafting coming later this year and as soon as 1-2 months from now
-Before getting T6 mats, get your clovers first.
-If you have yet to get map completion done, make sure you prioritize the WvW maps. It’s best to get them out of the way early since it can become a waiting game if you leave it for last
-Do metaevent trains on reset night to get both your gold and karma. Do not spend karma on anything else as it is a scarce currency!
-If you absolutely refuse to do WvW, go for maxing your achievements points, as you are rewarded badges at for each achievement chest
-If you have excess skillpoints (+200), and your legendary requires lodestones, I suggest considering promoting cores. Of course, do a quick calculation to see how much you are saving.

Destroyer = 10s70c (lodestone sells for 10s70c more than cores = profitable)
Corrupted = 11s44c
Charged = 39s77c
Onyx = 19s47c
Molten = 12s45c
Glacial = -27s75c (another negative)
I usually consider 1 SP = 20s. each of these promotions requiers 0.6 SP, so anything above 12s I would do.

Thank you for tips guys I really appreciate it. Im currently farming karma, should be getting that gift of mastery in few days.

I say precursor first. There hasn’t been a peep about this new so called “alternative” way to get a precursor in months and I really wouldn’t expect it anytime soon. Plus you know kitten well it isn’t gonna be some cheap 20g quest that is finished in 1 month.

With that said, I would grind and sell everything and get the precursor first. Once that’s done, then I would go for clovers. After that I would make the Gift of X. Then start saving and grinding for Gift of fortune. I would do Gift of mastery last since it costs no gold and is just smooth sailing. That’s how I did the 5 legendaries I got now and it worked well.

I wouldn’t set out solely to farm karma except to get the clovers done. That’s why I said Gift of mastery last. You can get karma from fractals and open world events while you farm for gold and T6 mats for Gift of fortune and Gift of X and by the time you are done with those, you will look up and have pretty close to the karma you need to buy the 250 obsidian shards, not to mention with all the fractal runs to buy obsidian shards too.
