As most of us know; magic find on gears will be removed. According to the article I read it said the the explorer’s set will be replaced by an assassin’s set (Precision, Power, and Critical Damage) while the traveler’s set will be replaced with a dire set (Condition Damage, Toughness, and Vitality).
My question is what you guy’s think of these new stat combo, because personally I feel no reason to craft the assassin’s set as we already have berserker’s, but I feel the dire set will be ridiculously powerful. I feel as though with the dire stat combo condition necro’s and condition warriors will start to steamroll with their already innate survivability.

Assassin will have it’s use in boosting ridiculous levels of crit chance into the absurd regions.

okay… but my problem with it is that you’re losing quite a bit of power for just a higher critical chance, which with full berserkers, nourishment’s , and fury you already can hit around the 80-90% range…. so why take assassin’s?

For those last 20-10%
That’s the essence of min-maxing isn’t it.

I’m not saying it’ll become a meta. There will be experimenting and if a highly regarded player decides to become it’s billboard the flock will follow.

For some classes, like the ranger, power scales differently. Because the pet is supposed to do half of his damage, at least, that was the initial thought behind it. That’s why in PvP, you used to see a lot of condition rangers, as condition damage doesn’t scale.
I’m quite interested what this stat combo will do for pet classes. It might actually better than zerker.

I cant see any point with it, in coordinated teams you can already reach 100% crit chance by a huge margin, and if thet keep the distribution of today it will result in lowered dps, approx 10%.

Petclasses might be the exception though but on thief, guardian and warrior (which i play the most) i cant see one single reason to a 10% dps loss and how it can contribute in any way or form.

The day they introduce power/crit/toughness i will be the first one to get one though.

To hit 80% crit chance with your nourishment slot doing something else.

I got my character up to 72% crit without fury or food. With fury it was virtually auto crit and I could use any food I wanted.

We had this discussion in an other thread. The difference in numbers of proccs per minute is really tiny due to internal cd. As long as you reach a level of crit chance that are in equilibrium with your attack speed you are good to go. 50% is enough to have a very high “uptime” on on crit effects like empowering might, sigil on crit effects, food on crit.

Ghost pepper popper and omnomberry has the same internal cd as EM so the same rules apply. The difference between having 100% crit and having 50% corresponds to about 0,7-0,8 stacks of might, with 70% boon duration it about 1,-1,1 stack of might, in average.

So if you run both EM and pepper popper (100% crit chance) it would mean about 70 (2 stacks of might) extra power with 70% might duration compared to 50% crit chance.

Sure in might stacking builds it might be cool to squeeze out the last of those might stacks but considering the overall loss of power when going assasins compared to berserker its not worth it, not from a dps perspective at least.

I’d have liked to see it reversed. Explorer becoming Dire and Traveler becoming Assassin. Assassin is too close to Berserker (only a difference of main) but the Dire is a new combination.

Before this thread gets any more popular I would like to make a note:

the existing recipes will be replaced with the new recipes.

Owners of existing gear will have the option to choose new stats from the existing crafted sets.

I think the Assassin prefix will see use in low precision power builds. Currently the only combination with a major precision stat is Rampager, which is condi-centric.

As for the Dire prefix, I’d predict it’ll see use with condi specs. It’s a condi major with two defensive stats. So unless your build uses on-crit stuff and/or has major healing, I would say Dire is the best option.

Yes, that’s why I’d have loved to see the stats reversed. Explorer → Dire and Traveler → Assassin…
