I started my charr warrior with the intention of crafting my own weapons and armour. The ores, after copper, are a doddle to get enough of to level off researching recipes but I am having massive trouble accumulating anywhere near enough of the odds and sods you need to combine with the dowels, things like the fangs and blood etc. I collect every item and ship them off to the bank but even after getting enough gems (and ores) to help a mate get his jewelery skill from 0 to 340 I still don’t manage to get more than 3 blood vials or 4 claws etc. Bar spending a load on the TP are there any decent places to farm mobs to drop the relevant bits?

At low levels, you won’t be spending a lot on TP for those mats. Seriously, it’s the way to go. It’s much better just going out and about farming for money and then buy these components on the TP. I’m not taking about buying the tiny fangs or blood etc., but the dowels themselves. People put their leftovers up dirt cheap.

There is no real way to farm for the fangs and bloods effectively anyway, because of Diminishing Returns. I tried this once, and never again. I was going for Scales, and my first 10 or so kills yielded 3 scales, and the next 30 yielded about 1 or 2.
