Anyone else hoarding massive amounts of crafting materials in anticipation of ascended armor crafting?

I know I am, and was dissapointed it didn’t come with Nov12 patch. I have an entire 100 slot guild bank space dedicated to ori/gossamer/silk/mithril/etc as well as an entire mule character full of EmpFrags/Dragonite/and Bloodstone.

I really hope this comes soon!!

The Empyreal Fragments and Dragonite requirements alone turns this into quite a grind. Amazing feature for a game that was sold on the idea that there would not be grinds.

And oh, I’m not seeing dark matter on the list.

You guys might want to refine those stacks to save space, the most you’ll probably need to level with thorugh refinement is probably 2 stacks of T6 mats.

btw: I highly recommend listing your hoarded materials at what you think they will go up to. the highest price will likely be in within an hour or so of ascended armor being released – it’s best to already have it listed when that happens.

I have no talent for market speculation, but it could be less because everyone has been hoarding the mats either since ascended weapons came out or prior.

Sure there will be people who have too much gold that will happily pay 7-10g per time gated refined mat, but as a whole I think most people this time around either have their own or have their own and then-some. So there could be a spike but I don’t think it will stay up as long or go as high.

No. I highly doubt more than 5% of the population have been doing that and it really doesn’t matter how much they hoard. If they weren’t hoarding, that supply would have been exhausted enough to increase prices rapidly regardless. You’ll also have to take into consideration the quantities that people will need per piece and for all of their alts. This will create quite a demand on items that are not easily farmable as weapon components.

Rome was not built in a day. Neither should your ascended armor be. It will be by some mind you but it’s going to cost a pretty penny. Save now if you are interested in this because I have a feeling soon enough we’ll be seeing that armor.

Why would you buy silk? As far as I know, T5 weren’t used for ascended weapon crafting.

1360 stacks will take you 3.8 hours to list on the TP, assuming you’re listing as fast as possible. just so you know.
and ascended requires as much T5 material as all other tier material combined.

Prices goes up 5x from 8c to 40c and you have 1360g before fees just on silk alone!

Only issue now is others doing the same thing! but supply will try up quick as everyone crunches the ascended mats out. wont be right away as people still need to get to L450

But the 645g worth of Gossamer scrap LOL thats allot of moola! if they tripple in value your up to 1935g before fee’s

That’s over 2000 inventory/bank spaces. Where the hell do you keep all this stuff? I would hoard the same, but I don’t even have the space for it. And that’s including the personal guild bank and 5-6 extra bank tabs.

Easy, I have put at tp all the silk, so I only have now 645 slots dedicated to materials.

Listed. But next time I won´t buy silk, too much time to list all. I had the anti-bots error every 10 stacks listed. So every 10 stacks listed I had to wait some time.

yeah isn’t that annoying. I understand why it’s there but even when I unload my extra mats at the end of a day I get the error several times.

How much do you play and how many 80s do you have? I have two but I play only one basically.
Once, twice per week is what I can afford to play. I like doing spvp, tpvp and roaming wvw rather then open world and megabosses. Occasionally dungeons. I have 150 dragonite so far. When will I be able to get my only one Ascendant weapon? end of 2014? Great! Implementing Ascendent gear? no please. Keep it as it is now.

I don’t “deserve” anything… I want to earn it like everyone has to. But the amount of grind is enormous. Also, if I coul get a small quantity of dragonite from pvp in some way that would just make me happy as I spend 50% of my time in the mist and 50% roaming

2 of the 3 things you enjoy doing in the game do not even require ascended gear.

The last one does not reward dragonite at all. It doesn’t reward much of anything at all. This is the life of a roamer.

Now this being said if was mentioned a while ago that they are looking into rewarding ascended items at some point but there is no deadline on when that is going to happen.

There was a post on GW2Guru not long ago intimating that Ascended armors were coming next patch, but it was taken down pretty quickly.

Who knows how true it was, its probably speculation, but it sure looked official.

It all depends on how often a week you do it. I play the part of the game I enjoy the most, when I can. If I have spare time I don’t mind doing occasional dungeons, guild runs and new content. I know it’s a pretty cool game. Actually I really love it. If it wasn’t for the gring of dragonite… Gee, I have all other mats ready, why I cannot just buy it on TP?!?

The longer it takes for Ascended armour to come out, the better, because they’ve drifted so far already from the model the advertised before launch.

Re above; Definitely. And more importantly was the mantra Anet touted stating that we could get equipment of comparable quality by playing the way we wanted to, not being forced into some other cookie-cutter mechanism of grinding, with daily limits etc etc. It’s so sad, and to think adults make these games. They really must just be in it for the ‘money’ not any desire to make a good/unique product. Oh the Banality…

wouldn’t surprise me if we have to run the new upcoming fractals for ascent armor recipes or mats. Nothing is released yet and knowing Anet you can’t just pull the weapon recipes and say that the same mats will go in the armor recipes. Nothing is official till it’s actual released So get ready for the “play how you want” with camping the new fractals for the rest of the year….

If I’m an Arenanet dev, i’ll change the main materials used in the ascended amour crafting to newly released materials. Would love to see the look on the hoarder’s and TP maestro faces when a monkey wrench is thrown into their plans

I’m personally just eager to get a date for ascended armor release.

I dont mind if it’s a long ways off, I just like to at least know.

Seen several post saying ascended armor is coming Dec 10th, I must be looking in the wrong place. Would someone post the link that verifies that please.

I know people have different opinions on the armor, I personally like it. So really looking forward to it.

Apparently I mis-remembered. In the video ( http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/b/453872177 ) at about 2:10-2:30 she mentions the cloth for armor and mentions teasing with the ore coming soon. Not quite as specific as I recalled. However, I don’t see ascended jewelcrafting coming any time until they mention some kind of token system for weapons and armor.

I play this game pretty much daily, and I have yet to see a SINGLE ascended drop. Super-low RNG is not a method for getting drops, it’s pure luck. Which leads back to my original point:

Personnally, i never had a ascended weapons drop neither, but 2 of my guildmate already have and I saw two people in the map chat linking a box of ascended weapons after world bosses (you can’t craft the box you can only get it in drops). Personnally, i find the Drop rates of Ascended Weapons just right as it is. Ya you can play as you want, Anet never said that you could have everything in the game by playing as you want. You can’t except to get legendary and ascended weapons by doing the Queensdale Zerg. (Joke, but you see my point).

To explain it again, there are plenty of reliable ways to acquire full sets of BiS gear. Crafting is one. But there’s also WvW badges, any one of a dozen different dungeons, fractals, laurels, guild commendations… heck, you can buy some of it on the Trading Post.

I view silk like I view iron (both were very consistently cheap, ascended weapons hit and iron saw a 1000% price hike)

I won’t be surprised if the ascended armor requires a tonne of silk that see’s in costing over a silver

You seem to be under the incorrect impression that crafting is the only way to obtain Ascended items. What is absurd is expecting the Ascended armor to be obtained differently than the existing weapons.

I am in no way implying that this could not or should not change in the future, but right now there are more than 2 sources of obtaining Ascended gear. You opinion on how “fair” the methods are does not change that fact.

RNG is pretty reliable, once the average rate has been established.

The rate on weapons is extremely low, from the data I’ve seen. Armor is unlikely to be different. Then, you have to hope it’s the slot you want, (x6), the armor type (x3), and the stat type (x10? probably more actually).

If the drop rate is 0.1% of all champion kills, to get a full set of your desired type, that’s: 1000 kills x 6 slots x 3 types x 10 stat types = 180,000 kills to get your desired set.

If you frostgorge champ farm, you probably down a champ every 3 minutes on average. 180,000 kills x 3 minutes = 540,000 minutes, AKA 375 days of NONSTOP 24/7 champ farming.

That makes it unreliable to acquire in any reasonable amount of time.

PS: It’s probably worse than 0.1%

My opinion on how “fair” it is, is exactly that. An opinion. I’m not saying that im wrong or right, I’m saying that ascended weapon/armor acquisition is, in my opinion, poorly done, and I personally am of the opinion it should be changed.

Look, if I’m wrong about there being 2 different ways to acquire Ascended Weaps/Armor all means, let me know. If possible, link your source as well. But everything I’ve seen thus far, indicates 2 options: RNG Drops, or Crafting.

Last I checked SINGLE (YOUR word used in YOUR quote) means 1 and 1 is less than 2. My math may be a bit rusty, but it’s obvious you are disregarding the RNG drops (or at least were at the start of this thread) because you don’t deem them as a plausible way to obtain the gear. Again, does not change the fact that it exists as a method to get the gear.

It’s the top tier gear, it should NOT be easy to obtain and I doubt this will change just because you WANT it to be easier.
