Hey,

I find myself destroying a fair amount of items (mostly blue, I think) because they can’t be salvaged and they aren’t on the sell-list with merchants. There is also no price listed in the description.

There’s possibly a reason for this, but it doesn’t say what that might be, so it gets annoying.

These are most likely items which you have previously bought from Karma merchants (after completing a heart).
At least, that’s the only place I’ve noticed that happening.

Make sure they’re not in an invisible bag too.

If you look, they will almost always say Soulbound on them. I wish you could salvage them, but yeah, I usually end up garbaging them as there isn’t much else you can do with them.

They were bought from a Karma vendor.

You can throw your unsellables in the mystic forge and hope for something better, not soulbound or sellable/salvageable

Due to exploits in the first couple of days, they have disabled the ability to sell or salvage items bought with karma.

I’m hoping they will eventually turn it back on, once they’ve figured out how to make sure things are prices so that they can’t be exploited.

I doubt they will though. They don’t want any reliable way to turn karma into gold. It’s a shame to end up throwing away otherwise useful gear that you’ve simply out-leveled or found a replacement for, but I’m not sure how they could allow you to do something useful with it, with allowing people to trade their karma for gold.

As I understand it, you CAN still put them in the Mystic Forge, but you’d need 3 other comparable items to be put in there with them.

I believe Aquatic weapon and rebreather drops are all soulbound, unsellable and unsalvageable as well.

I remember Anet saying that they don’t want players to be reaping profits from karma vendors, so they made them unsellable and unsalvageable. Imagine buying the crappiest and cheapest cloth armor piece you can find in bulk from a karma vendor, then salvaging it for its jute and selling it for a hefty profit.

Why don’t they just have em be able to be used at the MF with MC?

Some quest items and event items are like this too. Trash ’em.

Mystic Forge guys… Mystic Forge…

Sometimes when you mix equipment up in the Mystic Forge, it spits out items that can be bought from karma vendors too. They still remain BoP and can’t be sold or salvaged.

The question is, can you combine Karma items in the Mystic Forge and get a salvageable item out? If so, is there something low-cost enough to make a profit on that? And if so, when will it be nerfed?

Karma points have same value of gold I think, because you need them for high lvl exotic weapons and armors. So, it wouldn’t be necessary to nerf it. And i read that you can obtain a salvageable item from 4 karma items.
