I’m not big into crafting and used to selling all my acquired mats on the TP.

So now that I’m getting some of these account-bound Ascended materials, are they useless to me as a player since I can’t trade them? Are there other ways to convert them into gold?

you have to craft them a bit further in order to sell them at TP, ofcourse you have to be lvl 450 on huntsman, weaponsmith or artificer so in your case that could be a problem

Ah what I thought it’s a hook to get people (like me) involved with crafting. Thanks

Dragonite, empyreals and bloodstone dust is useful only for ascended crafting, can’t be sold and cannot be refined into anything sellable. What you can sell is the deldrimor steel ingots, spiritwood planks and elonian leather square (as well as deldrimor steel dowels, iirc) – all those require a timegated account-bound component in their production, so their prices for now remain relatively high. Also, all those are refined from normal t6 mats with a bit of vendor stuff added on.

So no, basically anything new that drops is not sellable or useful in any other way except for crafting.

You can also sell the finished inscription, but not the finished weapon itself.

I share the same issue with not being able to sell all these account-bound materials such as piles of bloodstone dust from the champion bags. Honestly, I was never really into crafting and I did not level up my crafting anything past 200 Jeweler, however, I do enjoy selling my materials for a decent profit when I get them. What I don’t like is how I can’t sell any of these raw ascended mats (even if some were a mere 3 copper per piece) such as bloodstone which I have almost three stacks of.

I really don’t think crafting should be the only reliable option of getting the best gear (it should still definitely be an option, of course), as random drops will sometimes give you items that are not stats you want or even items that you can’t even use. I don’t think everyone has enough time to spend a couple weeks grinding and crafting the best in slot weaponry (I completly understand if ANet is trying to get more people into crafting though, I’m just saying it should not be the reliable option). With the exotics system and its weapons and mats trade-able, you did not have to do weeks worth of work to get a single weapon, but you could purchase them if you did not want to craft them (not saying that these weren’t a little too easy to get, but I think the most powerful gear should be trade-able like legendaries are). An issue I have with the ascended weaponry is what if you get a weapon you don’t want or can’t use but can’t sell it due to it being account bound. Personally I would enjoy the nice bit of profit selling a weapon I can’t use or don’t want, but with these new ascendeds you can’t do that.

Basically I would look forwards to being able to at least sell these basic ascended materials such as bloodstone dust, and maybe even sell the ascended itself (I doubt this is going to happen, but I have a reason for it in the paragraph above).

I share your frustration concerning ascended materials, but as I have said elsewhere, it is because I come at it from the other end. I enjoy crafting and want to make the ascended items, particularly if they were tradeable as well. However I don’t enjoy farming champions or dungeons. I’ll do the odd one if I come across a champion battle in my travels, but I prefer wandering the world and enjoying the scenery. I gather every node I come across, and kill standard and veteran mobs, but I don’t go out of my way to find the champions or take part in the big events. This means that I am unlikely to get enough ascended mats to craft anything.

I played WoW for a long time and got really fed up with the fact that as I did not enjoy end game dungeons and raids I could not get or craft the high end weapons or armor. The normal argument was if you don’t do the end game content you don’t need the end game gear. I may not need it, but that doesn’t stop me wanting it. I would gladly pay for the materials if I could.

If you end up farming champs/dungeons then that’s your own choice.

If you want to get lvl 500 ascended in a few days then absolutely you will have to farm. If you want to take your time, you don’t have to.

Ascended crafting isn’t meant to be done in a few days.

I’m not expecting to be able to craft an ascended weapon in a few days, its taken me almost a year to get one character to level 80, if it takes another year or two to get an ascended weapon or a legendary weapon then that fine. What I don’t like is the limits on how I can obtain the necessary materials to make those items. Legendary weapons REQUIRE me to do dungeons and now ascended weapons REQUIRE me to do champions events and dungeons.

I had hoped that GW2 would allow me to craft the equipment with out forcing me to do content I’m not overly interested in. I know I can buy a legendary but I would really like to craft one.

I would even accept throwing things in the mystic forge in hope of getting the necessary materials.

While I do craft, after a few events and some SAB, the Ascended materials maxed their stacks.
Really ANet? A stack of 18 on a new, supposedly rare material.
There really isn’t a way to get rid of these. I can’t share with my guildmates or friends that could actually use them.

I see there could be a possible idea about making them account bound now and removing it later to keep them from imploding the prices on the TP, since everyone will have tons of them. Folks sell them at vendors instead, and sink the glut.
Just guessing about them at too early in the moring.

I’m sitting on 8 piles of bloodstone dust that just take bag space. And I don’t have enough money yet (or t6 mats) to get to 450 crafting and get anything useful out of those.
A way of converting those accountbound thingies in lesser materials (say, a few T6 materials………..) would be extremely, EXXTREEEEMELY appreciated, Anet. Seriously.

And by 8 piles I mean piles of piles. that’s actually 2000+ piles. If that makes sense.

So what did you blow all the mats/money you got from those 150+ champion bags/boxes into? What about all the other stuff you gained from mindlessly farming that many champs?

Mh I’m pretty sure it wasn’t that much. I collected them from the boxes I saved from the last three invasions I participated into (and didn’t opened until the new patch), and that must be about 80 boxes. About three hours of gameplay. Plus two days of normal world bosses routine, that perfectly fits a few pauses from my studies, and makes for about a couple hours each day overall.
About mats and things, I didn’t took notice of the exact amount, but I guess I’m not more than 30-40 g richer than a week ago, and cumulating mats to get over 400 crafting.

The fact remains that my 450 mat piles keep getting higher, even by casual gameplay, without a mean of using them.

Then just level to 450 crafting. To 425 you get by refining orich and ancient wood. The rest you will get by discovering 7 exotics.

30-40g plus the mats you have should be plenty.

Mmmh okey I’ll try
Still, I suppose some (like the OP) would be happy if they were able to downgrade those mats to simple and sellable T6.

Probably. I’d like to be able to get more empyreal from JPs as they’re my favourite thing and I hate dungeons. Guess we all have to make some compromises, don’t we?
