Now I’m a returning player; and I just began to build my legendary, I’m already 1/4 of the way through, but after the april 2014 patch I got so angry; because how come karma has to be nerfed? A currency that was just fine, needed absolutely no needed fixes, how in the world do you take that away from players. Now that I’m left with 1 gift of mastery in my bank, and I need about another 300 plus obsidian shards, I’m in need of about another 600k karma. That’s going to take months at this rate! I’m considering leaving the game again because of this.

There was a very loud out cry the karma was too abundant and completely useless, months and months ago. (Well before the April patch) As such, karma got nerfed. Thank those people.

It is quite easy to get lots of karma, just do lots of event chains, fractals, or Edge of the Mists. Get a karma infusion on your ascended amulet too.

Before the karma nerf (which was a little less than a year ago, maybe Oct last year?) I had maybe 1 mil karma or so and lots of jugs. Popped my boosters, drank the jugs, etc. and bought Orrian boxes. I ended up spending ~9 million karma on boxes (the boxes give you karma back) and still had 1mil karma left over. Since the nerf I’m sure I’ve spend another 3-5mil karma on more boxes because there is nothing else to spend them on (that doesn’t involve hours at the forge).

Karma is one of the easiest parts of a legendary. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather they introduced other things to spend karma on instead of just nerfing the gains, but still, it isn’t too hard to obtain. Heck you can also get oby shards from the past month in the Pavilion, and also from PvP now.

Yes, karma was nerfed, it’s replacement was a laughable amount of luck(to boost your mf).

But to be perfectly fair, gift of mastery is nowhere near “1/4 of the way” of a legendary, it’s more like the beginning of your misery.

If you already have the Gift of Mastery, I’m not seeing where you got the number 300+. The only other thing obsidian is used for in legendaries are the mystic clovers, and 250 should be enough (expected amount is around 233). Just remember to do the one-at-a-time recipe to stay close to that expected quantity.

for the highest obsidian shards per time, I recommend underleved fractals. get your personal level to 31 (or 41), then run fractal level 21 (or 31). 10 levels below your personal level will give the most karma you can get. and the higher the level, the higher the karma and relics.
each run will get you about 55 fractal relics (plus 30 more each day) + 7,000 karma
I like my karmic infusion also, banners and boosters will increase this. most I’ve got was 13,000 karma from one run. and each run takes about an hour
anyways, 55 relics = 3.66 obby shards. 7,000 karma = 3.33 obby shards. = 7 obby shard per hour (+2 more each day). 300 / 7 = 42 hours

I agree with this. Come back when the only thing you are missing is karma and let us know how much you need at that point.

You can get Shards from Festival Tokens right now…..just saying.

100 festival tokens = 1 obby shard
sanctum sprint awards about 40 tokens for 1st place, and one race every 7 min or so. so 342 tokens per hour, or 3.4 obby shards per hour.
not too shabby actually.
EotT used to be my next-best karma farming suggestion, and it nets about 400 karma / 5 min = 4,800/hr = 2.3 obby shards per hour.
I believe aspect arena would be less shards/hr, just because it awards about half as much and takes longer.

Activities can also be a good source of karma. A typical match takes about ~5 min, and you get 600 karma for a loss and 1000 for a win.
