Obtaining Tier 6 Fine Materials
I get around it by having 5 characters that I play more or less equally. Each character tends to be in a different map of the same tier, so the landscape is different, enemies are different, and my combat tactics are different. Just go through an area completing Hearts and kill anything that gets in your way; the mats start to add up after a while.
Here are a few methods that I’ve found to help:
1. Farm money through completing the explore paths of dungeons like Citadel of Flame, or do Fractals of the Mist, and put an order in the Trading Post for the material you want. These dungeons do indeed drop bags that could grant the materials as well.
2. Use the Mystic Clover recipe that yields 10 clovers on success (10 Mystic Coins, 10 Ectoplasm, 10 Obsidian Shards, 10 Crystals) – If you fail at the Clover combine you still have a chance of getting around 40 of a random tier 6 material OR 10 of a certain type of Lodestone. The Lodestones sell for quite a bit if you aren’t going to need them for a legendary.
3. The Laurel vendor sells a tier 6 bag for 1 Laurel that yields a random amount (3 or so) materials.
Good luck!

I’ve been buying heavy bags with laurels and gotten about 100 various t6 mats (including dusts) from it, which is 10% of what is needed. So it’s a pretty good boost, and if you’re like me and not planning to buy anything else with laurels, it’s easy mats.
T6 scales have shot way up in price since April 1st for whatever reason. If you’re planning to buy them with gold, it might be a good idea to wait on those.
Pent/Shelter at cursed shore. I gotten quite a few there but hardly any t 6 dust the 3 hours I was there.

Go to gw2spidy and check out the stock amount. That is why it went up. With everyone telling someone to just go farm CoF and buy the materials, its forcing the prices to go up since the supply isnt being returned which forces the player to farm CoF more to be able to afford more of the mats. Also take into account SAB is taking people’s time out from farming Orr.
Thanks for all the input!
Getting 3 random Tier 6 fine materials per Laurel seems a bit expensive. I did quite a bit of Shelter/Pent events with magic find gear and ripped the Heavy Moldy Bags. I got a fair amount of materials that way. So I will just add half an hour of Orr events into the everyday mix of dungeons, daylies and WvW.
I hope prices will drop when the SAB hype settles so I can at least buy some of the materials needed.
Not a big boost, but I tend to always do the little jumping puzzle in Malchors leap that have the scavaging boxes on the path. you tend to get T5-T6 mats or some cooking stuff from them, and I suprisingly often get 2 T6 bloods or some other T6 from them (run it daily with all my alts). Might be a relaxing 5 minutes away from the standard farm, and you get a jumping puzzle chest at the end.
Shelt/pen is your best bet. It’s also great when you guest on two other servers during downtime.
There is also a super awesome farming spot that only two servers know about but I don’t exactly want to reveal it here incase some devs are looking to nerf it. And having too many people farm that spot isn’t exactly beneficial ;3

I’m getting good drops farming pent/shelt and guesting other servers, I have gone from 20 T6 dust to over 200 in 2 days.
What I want to know is if the Heavy Moldy bags have any chance at all to drop cores, and if not, does anyone know why or if a suggestion has been made to this? Theres elementals in orr the bags should have a chance to drops the cores and such imo.
Where do you all get your lodestones? Buy or farm?

Problem is, it’s more efficient to farm gold for these materials, rather than farm the materials themselves.
