As of this moment:

Versatile Mighty Infusion
100 Passion Flowers: 49.9 gold
250 Vials of Powerful Blood: 91.3 gold
100 Philosopher’s Stones: 0 gold
50 Mystic Coin: 3.4 gold

Total 144.3 gold.

… for 5 extra power. That is plain ridiculous, even for a purely non-essential item. The price for passion flowers and powerful bloods are just way too high at the moment. Please consider increasing the drop rate of those items and/or changing the recipe amounts Anet.

They were made that expensive for a reason. The reason why Infused versions of items are so pricey is so that people who are hardcore grinders, or are obsessed with having BiS in everything, have something to work towards, but having it also won’t give them any significant advantage over people who didn’t grind for it.

Yes but even by the standards of “a pricy item for hardcore player’s” it’s just crazy, I mean at the moment there are less than 300 passion flowers on the trading post. All the hundreds of thousands of GW2 players and there’s not even enough supply for 3 Versatile Mighty Infusion’s, that’s plain whacked.

Good thing then two versatile infusions are all you need for min-maxing. Furthermore, almost no player is going to bother with versatile which means a handful will be +10 more powerful over all the players who chose a defensive infusion.

That’s what the flat gear curve is about. You get +10 over most other players.

First those infusions are not meant purely for the +5 power but for the agony resistance aswell. If you just want +5 power or +5 agony resist infusion there is a cheaper option :P. But yes if you really want BiS this is your only option.

In my eyes the price of the vials is good. Yes they are expensive but also in very high demand. So that’s driving the prices up. But it’s also very doable to grind them.

On the other side the passion flowers. Hmm well they are just plain ridiculous. They are at a cost of around 2-3x the cost of an ecto. It’s impossible to grind them and cause of that reason there are few on the TP. A few weeks back I decided to go grind for these elusive flowers. Spending 10+ hours and harvested around 40 passionflora vines with a total result of 3 flowers :S Not funny. Grinding these for your infusions or “Apothecary armor set” which requires 375 of them is just insane. Full exotic armor sets costs you around 20-25G were the Apothecary set costs you between 250-300G.

Something is telling me Anet sucks at balancing. They do the same for dungeons compare 5-7 minutes CoF 1 to 120-240 minutes Arah 4. Reward is the same. Come on Anet atleast 1 of you guys / girls there should have finished math on kindergarten, and should have came up with the brilliant idea some things need to be balanced.

As for now just go with the flow. And grind the hell out of CoF1 for money and just buy them from the TP. I know Cof1 get’s boring as hell after a while. But for now it’s by far the quickest way to get them. If not the only way to get them before we all end in a home for elderly .

I totally agree with you that the drop rate for Passion Flowers is completely borked. ANet needs to increase the frequency with which these drop, to about the same percentage as getting gems when mining ores or hidden bags when chopping trees.

. But it’s also very doable to grind them.

I beg to differ….dr kicks in trying to grind these, thus impeding farming them via grinding.

Might i point out if you want double power infusions you don’t have to use versatile.

Mighty Infusion (Offensive) (35.73g)
250 Passion Fruits (0.5g)
100 Powerful Blood (34.3g)
50 Philosopher Stones (0g)
20 Mystic Coin (0.93g)

By using one infused offensive ring and one un-infused offensive ring you can equip two of the same kind of ring.

Ascii, while your suggestion is valid, if the player is min/max’ing to the point where they “must have” the extra 5 stat points, I suspect they would also want the additional 5 AR from infusing both rings. Even though AR only affects fractals, in my experience, min/max’ers would want full functionality from their BiS items.

I agree that the versatile infusions are excessively expensive right now. If ANet really thinks these recipes that require 250 t6 mats are reasonable, then the drop rates for t6 mats needs another slight adjustment, including the mats like passion flowers that are treated as part of t6.
