Orichalcum Nodes, spawn time bugged?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Whips-New-weapon-idea/first
ya, i’m having the same issue as well. not sure if its a bug or if they just lengthened the respawn rate (i’ve seen people in map chat claim both things).
its been over 24hrs since I’ve last harvested. ..
They are bugged for me a well.
This was changed in a patch a few days ago. For some reason ANet decided to change how gathering works and put it into the game without including it in the patch notes. Why the secrecy?
Is this an attempt to stop botters? I’ve yet to see any gathering bots.
Is this an attempt to stop exploiters? What exploit are they trying to fix?
Why does this affect people just playing the game normally? Didn’t they test these changes?
Please add changes like this to the patch notes.
Not only Ori nodes are bugged – every node is (at least in ML and CS). I’ve seen mana Mithril Nodes literally dispawning on my eyes.
As for Ori – I have 1 node in ML and 2 nodes in CS with 4h respawn, other 7 didn’t respawn for 13 hours so far.
Yep this thread is getting huge with this problem. Gagging for an anet response for wai or to be fixed.

Wow… They’ve actually been intentionally set to 24 hour resets now…
Because crafting wasn’t enough of a pain, right?
Guess at least now I know that I only have to log in for a few minutes each day then.
A shame fun things could not simply be fun.
I like how they fix this after I get to 80 so I now only get a limited amount of crafting mats per day. How the hell do I make my exotics now?!? Will take me a lot longer than say that other guy in my guild who was 80 earlier than me who could farm the nodes every 4 hours before this change. Hardly seems fair >.>
Welcome to MMOs Morgoth – things change.
EDIT: Just stating that things change all the time in MMOs, incase anyone thinks I’m being rude

Then how come some nodes are still on 1hr/5hr timers and not all nodes? Why are some people able to have all 12 ori on 5hr timers. Why is it affecting people differently?
They obviously thought they were just targeting botters and overflow/transfer exploiters by going by some numbers. There numbers are probably any account that gets 100+ orichalcum a day. Anet please tell me your system is better than this. You should easily be able to see who is doing this by overflow/transfer method. They would obviously have more than 300+ a day. Why is only some affected and not others ? Why am I being punished for farming nodes on one server with no overflow
I think it’s very inconvenient update. Tying nodes respawn rate to the characters, not servers, is fine. But the individual respawn count for every node is awful. Am i supposed to watch the clock each time i gather the ori?..

Do NOT nerf the spawn times of our top tier CRAFTING MATERIALS… Are you trying to take away our budget? Making it take longer to get the Ore we need to craft our exotics….
I THOUGHT U SAID: “we’re trying to take away the end game grind”
I need 120g just to craft an epic.. 100g for our guild commander…. 20g per character to finish up runes and sigils and w/e….. And now you nerf the way i make money……

Ive allready bought 40$ worth of ingame gold this month what more do u want from me!
They’re trying to give the bots another advantage by rotating the nodes around. We have to explore for ’em while they just teleport node to node.
Only thing I can think of to get around this – is to level up several alts to farm each day, since nodes are character based and not account based. So, if you eventually have five characters in Orr, you could get five times the amount of ores and wood you need!
… Until this gets nerfed and nodes are turned into account-based.

Whether a bug or not, nodes are bound my account, not per character.
I’ve had a friend in guild who ground up 5 level 80 alts specifically to do this.
His first characetr ran through just fine. 2-5 were unable to harvest the ML loots. They are tied by account, not by character (like stated in the patch notes).
To any ArenaNet Developer that knows:
Are these patch notes correct:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Update-Notes-October-1st-2012/357683
"
Ancient wood, Orichalcum Ore, and Mithril Ore nodes respawn rate is now tied directly to characters and set to respawn one day after your character gathered from it.
"
Or is the current T6 node respawn timers being account bound (NOT CHARACTER BOUND) working as intended?
The last few people I know that actually log in each day anymore would like to know this so they can continue playing in the hope this is a bug and will be fixed, or is working as intended, and they can stop hoping and make an informed decision.
Please and thank you for an official answer.

Nodes respawn at X hour (2am for me for example, gmt+2), not after 24 hours after last gathering (that is confirmed by devs).
And they are character bound – at least are supposed to be (I gather them on my warrior and my necro once a day, so at least for me it’s working as intended).
I can agree the change is terribly inconvenient for fresh 80s.
FYI there is an alternative to farming Ori nodes to get your crafting material. You can farm the previous tier of crafting mats (i.e. Mithril for Orichalcum). It’s a little bit of a gamble, but put a stack of 250 mithril in the Mystic Forge with 1 orichalcum ore + 5 philosopher stones (sold via the vendor next to it) + 5 piles of shimmering dust to get 10-50 orichalcum ore.
Additionally, mithril is not stuck on a respawn timer and is found in mass abundance in the Orr zones. You can apply this same formula to the other crafting mats FYI.

So if that is true, Wreknar (and I have no doubt it is) then the patch notes are at least half wrong, as Mithril Nodes are not refreshing every 24 hours.
It would be really nice if the patch notes were correct / corrected. :|
I have two characters that I gather Orichalcum and Ancient Logs on. Until yesterday’s patch, I was able to gather these resources once every 24 hours on each character…. character based lockout. I just discovered that I can now only gather on one of the two characters. Apparently the lockout timer has been switched to account based instead of character based. I’m going to check periodically this evening to see if they’ve changed the length of the lockout timer.
I’m okay with it if that’s what’s intended… I’d just like to see some consistency and patch notes.
ive not harvested any ori at all on the character im currently using and there is zero spawns for it anywhere
im guessing theyre not spawning at all.

My guess is:
Tier 6 nodes + Plant farms = Reset when daily achievement resets, Account based.
Tier 6 nodes change their locations randomly during reset.
All other nodes = 2 hours reset, character based.
As of Friday, October 12, 8:15pm mountain time, I can confirm mithril nodes are visible and can be harvested per character.
Specifically, I logged in with one character, found the location of a mithril node adjacent to Fort Trinity. I then logged out, logged in with a different character on the same account, went to Fort Trinity, and mined the same mithril node.
I’ll try to get orich node confirmation in the next few days.

I don’t think they meant regular mithril nodes, but rich ones. They used to be on about the same timer as orichalcum.

Well it’s good the patch notes are crystal clear and accurate. grr.
Need to correct my guess on the plant farms. At least not on daily reset. With my experience on several of them (such as Artichokes in SoD and Sugar Pumpkins in Iron March), probably on a timer less than 24 hours, but much longer than the usual nodes.
