I am really puzzled about why there is nowhere information in game for crafters. How are we supposed to know when — at any given point when leveling our crafting professions — that there are recipes available that can only be purchased from karma vendors scattered all over the world, hidden behind hearts (you not even can check beforehand what an NPC would sell), with no indication whatsoever that there is anything of the sort available when you are crafting. You just need to imagine that at any point (when?) there might be or not, some recipes for your profession, that you might or might not want, hidden in whatever places in the world behind some random NPCs with no indicator of any kind that they are selling them — sorry what a bad joke for crafters.

We need consolidated information in game of what recipes are available for each crafting profession (which should be given by the crafting NPC in the crafting area) with either, the recipes themselves.. Why not? Or if Anet don’t like that, at the very least those NPCs should have the information of what recipes are available, and where to go if the player is interested in acquiring them. Like, “(insert NPC’s name here) in XYD Valley, has the following recipes available”, and so on. Or simply just having a karma NPC selling all the recipes so not drive us crazy…… please.

This is why I take screenshot of every karma vendor I encounter.
If you didn’t do that the wiki covers some of the recipes, hopefully that is actually an incomplete list.

Other sites also have list of karma vendors for entire maps.

As for providing a list, should they be marking every jump puzzle on the maps too? How else are people supposed to know they are there?!

Ok, you take screenshots of every karma vendor you encounter; the thing is, by the time I could explore each region for every given tier, I would be way PAST the level for which the recipe could be useful.

Crafters need consolidated info about their professions. You cannot compare vistas in the maps with this (BTW, vistas are marked in maps, specifically RECIPE [and for what crafting professions?] karma vendors, aren’t.

Jumping puzzles are not vistas.

Karma vendors are the hearts which are on the map.

Jumping puzzles are what leads to vistas...

Oh ok, I guess no one else here but you knew that karma vendors were the hearts in the maps. (sic)

Still crafters need consolidated information like: for what level (in the different crafting tiers) are recipes available, (are there or aren’t?) what recipes? where? etc.

As I said, you CANNOT know what is behind each karma vendor until you complete the heart, your suggestion is that we do the whole of Tyria take pics, so an alt might have a chance to know what is available, when etc?

Ok, the rest of crafters need consolidated info of what is available for their professions. The hunting online neither works, cannot find anything, NOR should be it like that, the information for crafting must be in game.

I personally love to find these hidden recipes but yes I have never been on lvl when I have done so.
I think it would be a mistake to just make all these available in the game because then you would just be able to go there and get it. There is no fun in that- for me at least.

What we have done in our community is to post the relevant info for others to use as we come across it. One guy even went so far as to create a website as a data base for armours.
Maybe your guild has something like that? If not, why not make one?

…….

Umm no he’s talking about the plain ol jumping puzzles like the multipart one in metrica province, or the gryphon’s rook run, or the one where you kill the ghost pirates, or the one in the sharkmaw caverns

you get the idea

Edit: and yes this is why I check every karma vendor I find but I don’t mind finding them later just because I’m a completionist type and want them just to have them

You can buy and learn the recipes at any time. If you come across a karma vendor that sells recipes, and you like collecting recipes or suspect the recipe will be useful to your profession, just buy it.

You don’t even need to be trained in the appropriate crafting skill to learn the recipe. Also, you can give the recipes to alts if you prefer since they’re account-bound now.

None of the leveling karma recipes are so spectacular that they are must-have items of phenomenal cosmic power. They’re just neat optional rewards for completing a heart – exactly like the other rewards on heart karma vendors.

Hey there, I have compiled a list of karma vendors here for every zone. It is not complete (still missing some zones) but once I done the list I will go back and re-verify some (i.e. oranges got removed) and sort out the specific crafting recipes.

I believe you’re missing the OP’s main point. The idea is that, ideally, any crafter would like to know beforehand which hearts should be completed and which karma vendors one needs to talk to in order to obtain this or that other recipe. At the moment, you can’t even check a vendor’s items unless you’ve already completed the respective mission.

Sure, as your statement implies, I’d be a knob if I saw a karma vendor selling a recipe I would like to have and didn’t buy it. The point, though, is that it would be useful to have a list of all the recipes that can be acquired that way so that you can pick which hearts to focus on and know where to go. I know I’d love to have something like that (and I’ve searched for one a while ago, but couldn’t find anything — by the way, thanks, Dulfy, keep up the good work )

Of course, you could always say that one should do all the hearts in the game and, as someone else said, take screenshots of all the karma vendors and their items, but, for the love of God, how realistic and practical is that? It runs counter to everything ArenaNet’s philosophy is supposed to encompass.

People are adding to it slowly and thank goodness. I didn’t even know about the karma/heart thing having food until I got desperate for nutmeg. Also, recipes are there too, if you’re looking to find how to get a made ingredient. (or, like me, didn’t know about the rice wine seller).

Hope this helps.

I think it adds a bit of flavor and individuality. I think players are used to being handed everything, and fast level up methods and get rich quick methods are the only thing players think of. What about this concept: I was lucky enough to find this recipe, and now i have pretty sweet armour. Best part is, not many people I run into are wearing it, so I don’t see a bunch of clones! (I have enough clones being a mesmer) It would feel good wouldn’t it? Also if you’re the lucky one, you can pass the knowledge to GUILDmates…. it’s called GUILD Wars. Now I’m not saying don’t make a list on the web sponsored by players, hell I might take a gander at it myself. My point is more directed to those that get upset that the resources aren’t there. Arena Net did a kitten good job doing a lot for the players in interface and game play as it stands.

Wow, this post really makes me shake my head. Enough so that I took the time to log in and write.

The attitude over something like this is amazing and borderline rude. Comes across like a spoiled brat.

Given I am an explorer type and have maxed all the crafts and collect recipes or anything else that my be useful that I discover along the way. In-fact I still go back to various hearts and or double check them if and when I pass them again.

Anyway I’ll get to my point as this doesn’t even really deserve my response really (sorry I don’t mean to be rude).

If you want everything scripted out for you and or a complete recipe list… consult a cookbook – that’s what ‘they’ are designed for.

Pretty sure a large part of GW2 is designed around discovery and exploration. Come to mention it… that is part of the crafting process too… I’m sure you are\were upset that there wasn’t a fully detailed manual that gave away all those secrets too. rolls eyes

Also if you want you’re MMO spoon fed to you maybe you’re playing the wrong game or genre all together?

Hopefully you’ve found some adventure and understanding since your original post.

I applaud ANET for leaving things a mystery to those who enjoy it and still enabling some to get secrets online if they so chose to do so without ruining the surprise for everyone else.
