Legendary? sunrise
Gifts? have all the mats for light and metal. fortune basically done should i chose to buy things, just need some ecto and t6s but i have the cash to throw down and the gift of mastery is work in progress though progress is going. a precursor would be nice anet if you would like donate to the make a sunrise foundation.

ETA on completion of everything but the precursor about two to three weeks.

Over 9000 CoF runs later, I finally got The Legend off the TP for 525g to complete my Bifrost.

Finished Anomaly, Twilight and Bolt for Guardian.
Going to craft Infinite Light and Incinerator simultaneously for the thief.
If I hurry its 4-6 weeks, but ill take my two months instead.

Finished The Dreamer by buying The Lover of the TP for 466g.
Won’t ever start a Legendary again except when I get a precursor dropped, well maybe not even then.

Bleh I have everything but the legend. As of yesterday I gave up on the forge. I am now saving up for the legend emptied out everything in the bank and currently have a whopping 34 gold saved up. Just gonna keep chipping away little by little. The gilded infusion is awesome for dungeons btw.

Just finished my 2nd legendary. Now all i need is another precursor to finish my 3rd and final legendary. -_- The methods by which we can get precursors are seriously dumb.

Still going for Flameseeker Prophecies. Got the Gift of Mastery and Gift of Ascalon. I’ve managed to get 10 Mystic Clovers and am working on it. Slowly. Even tossed my first four exotic shields (gained through dungeon tokens) into the MF. No luck, got a pearl exotic shield. Decided to keep it since my Guardian didn’t have an exotic yet.
Aside from that, am about 3/4ths complete on materials for the Gift of Metal, and have 20 gold in the bank for gold costs of things.

UPDATE: Just finished my Frostfang a few days ago!

Missing 100ish badges of honor, 30 clovers and precursor.
I got enough money for a precursor and mats for its gift (even 100 charged lodes assuming I’m getting sunrise)

Now what’s holding me back on a legendary? I can’t decide which! Been thinking about bifrost for ele which I enjoy playing alot or any of the GS’s for my mesmer.

I personally love Twilight on a mesmer (since the clones carry them too!) It’s like owning 4 legendary GS ‘s at a time. Bifrost on ele is a bit overused, I actually like Bifrost on necros more-so.
All in all I’d say go for twilight on your mesmer.

After being able to craft the Minstrel and Twilight for my mesmer, I wonder what legendary I should go after next? Bolt or Sunrise (for eternity)?

I and many others would say rares, and sell the non-precursor exotics you receive to make back some of the money you just flushed away

As someone who finished bolt an twilight, let me tell you:
If you are missing T6, lodestones and precursor, you did not even start.

going for Sunrise.. i’m a third way there..
right now focusing on T6 mats, then I’ll be after Dawn, then lodestones, then and I’ll be pretty much done I guess…
let me refrase it. actually, I’m trying to focus on my college subjects, but instead I end up thinking about playing the game…
thank goodness I’m not that addicted to drugs, I’d have had an overdose already :S

600 rare greatsword attempts in the Mystic Forge and still no precursor.

Waiting until they implement a way to attain a precursor that is more inline with the rest of the steps taken to gain a legendary that isn’t blind luck or taking advantage of an exploit early in the game’s life.

Update: Finished!

Took another 300 rare greatswords, but instead of selling exotics for materials to craft more I started tossing them in as well and got a Dusk from 4 of the named exotics. Who knows if named greatswords yields an higher chance or not.

They dont, but exotics have an insanely enhanced possibility compared to rares.

Well… The T6 mats and Lodestones is no problem for me. I farm CoF and orr for money. I need molten and destroyer lodestones which i get from cof. So while im farming gold i get the T6 and Lodestones as a bonus. I do actually have quite alot of them. This is the easy part for me.

Just an update on my legendary… I’m going for Twilight… and today I got Dawn from the MF… is this luck or bad luck?

At least I didn’t spent much… less than 20 tries since December…

I love this game… but seriously, this precursor thing is really annoying…

I’m close to getting Twilight now. I have everything except the precursor, and I know I’m far from being the only one. I’ve spent around 100g on the Mystic Forge with no luck, however RNG hates me in all loot based games so I’m calling it quits there before I commit suicide and will just buy Dusk from the TP instead. I’ve attained just over 70G at the moment so I’m roughly 1/10th of the way to being able to afford Dusk. I have also played for over 1,200 hours now with no precursor drop yet. I’m not sure if that’s the norm but I’m feeling incredibly unlucky

The lesson I’ll take away from this is to start with the precursor first. Everything else is a doddle in comparison, you had also better not think “Oh well Anet will add a scavenger hunt in the future” as from what I’ve read all this scavenger hunt seems to be is an idea at the moment…

A little advice: You’ll also be best off having some alts to run the EB JP for the badges of honour, pretty easy and it’s fun to do in those “I’m bored” moments. I left the badges quite late on and spammed the JP which was annoying to say the least. I’d also consider getting the gift of mastery first or at least get those first 250 obsidian shards out of the way. This meant when I was making the mystic clovers I just gave them another attempt whenever I got enough karma for a few obsidian shards rather than finally get 77 clovers and have 250 more obsidian shards to go on top of everything else.
The most annoying part for me was getting the T6 materials. I had poor luck with the clovers which returned me a load of leather sections and other cheap useless materials so I pretty much had a whole stack of all materials to get, I was too lazy to farm the individual materials, even with magic find as my average rate was about 1 T6 material every 10 minutes. So I just spent a lot of money buying stacks. Focusing on the cheaper materials and moving my way up to the more expensive materials. This personally took me forever and was by far the most annoying part of this “legendary journey”. The other big part was the onyx lodestones, luckily I managed to just buy the cores and turn them into lodestones, costing me a mere 80G so they weren’t as big an issue as I thought they would be.

But other than that yeah… Dusk.

I’ll get back to you guys once I’ve saved up another 600G. Oh by the way, as soon as I had gotten everything other than my precursor people in my guild are suddenly getting precursors as drops or early Mystic Forge rewards. I must be a lucky charm!!! Though that helps me not at all. To add salt to my wound, a friend got Dusk as a WvW drop and asked me for money to help him sell it >.> 600G was too much money to turn a blind eye to and help a friend out I also wish I got outside help with my legendary like a lot of people I know did (By outside I mean with friends and guildies). When I ask for help I just get a “Go do it yourself noob” which reminds me of GW1 when I joined towards the end of it’s life and when I asked for a party people just replied “You have heroes, go and solo everything noob” FML.

I’m ranting far too much now, but I need to express my anger somehow, but still Anet, great game! Just decrease the amount of RNG please

Ahh, I’m sooo excited right now. The legendary I am aiming for is SUnrise, and i just got Dawn today! I couldn’t believe it! The only thing I have left to get is the Gift of Mastery. I can’t believe i waited so kitten long to get my map complete. Crystal Desert is NEVER the red borderland, so i may have to switch. It is killing me that all i need is a silly gift of exploration :<

Can’t decide if I wanna gamble or save up… If saving then that’s an additional 480g..

On the other hand, seems like quite a few crystal desert people is gonna have their rainbow unicorns too! Looking forward ^^

Well, I finally completed my Twilight yesterday… now is payback time… I owe lots of gold and mats to my guildies and friends…

A few comments on the entire process:

It tooks us (5 people) 6 months to complete 1 legendary. I started playing in the betas, but didn’t start working on the legendary until October, and people have been helping me since then, with money, materials and some farming sessions.

We have been farming in Orr before the patch, but it sucked, so we stopped it. I remember some people claiming to make three or four times more money than the five of us together (with full magic find builds).

We went back to Orr after the patch, and during last week alone I made about 30 gold. Grenth bless the loot patch!!! I guess that T6 materials price will increase a lot since there are more people making loads of money now.

We also made some runs of CoF path 1. And a lot of Fractals lvl 10 (rings, rings everywhere!). And a few times we also tried farming Grawl in Frostgorge Sound and Sparks in the door of the Arah dungeon. I also noticed that there are still many bots in Frostgorge Sound (all reported, yay!).

The precursor thing… I really think that this process is entirely flawed. I got Dawn in less than 20 tries in the MF, I traded it for Dusk. I was more excited when I got the precursor than when I got the legendary… I was all like “OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG” and screaming and jumping like a teenage girl >.< While I was extremely lucky and didn’t have to spend much money, I also considered quitting (from the legendary, not from the game) a few times before getting the precursor, since gambling is the thing that I hate the most. I would be happy if the Mystic Forge was removed from the game and replaced with something that required some effort.

I was monitoring the BLTC to find out the best times to sell Dawn and buy Dusk, and I found that approximately something between 5 and 7 of each are traded every day. This is a personal estimation made by observing the BLTC by just one week… so handle with care I think that their price is totally unfair, since you can only get them if you are a lucker… you do nothing, get a precursor from some chest or some random try at the MF… and there you go… 600 gold… And now that is easier to make money, their price will probably increase even more.

I think that current system for making legendaries has a very negative impact in the game economy, because everything is driven by the legendaries, even if you don’t want one, you are still doomed to suffer from price spikes for anything related to a legendary (lodestones, T6 mats, ectos). So for example if you want to make a rune or a sigil with onyx lodestones, you have to pay a ridiculous amount of money because they are used in the most popular legendary.

And finally, a few suggestions for those who want to start their journey on building a legendary.

If you already have a precursor, it is just a matter of time, so patience will be your best friend here.

If you don’t have a precursor, try to focus on mystic clovers and ectos first. Once you have those two things, it will be easier to make money. If you want to try your luck with the mystic forge, go always for the greatsword precursors, they are the most expensive ones, so you will be able to buy your precursor and get some spare coins. And in general, it is better to farm for money and buy materials, instead of farming the mats directly.

I am working on Flameseeker Prophecies. I have:

World Completion
37/77 clovers, plus 160 Obsidian Shards and another 250,000 karma.
Bloodstone Shard
100 Icy Runestones
264/500 Ascalonian Tears
200/500 Badges (got them in a week)
Tailoring 400
Weaponsmithing 400

Will complete the clovers this week, then Badges and Tears. Finally, the remaining T6 mats and lodestones. I have decent gold, so those last should not be so bad.

Been working at it for 3 months. Another 1-2 and I’ll be done.

Srsly, why so long?

I mentioned it in my post. We didn’t really started making money until the loot patch was applied (for comparison, in the first 6 months I made about 190-200 gold, and this month alone I already made 120 gold). Also, most of us are casual players. Some people only play a few hours on weekends.

Also, we don’t play the TP. Nobody enjoys that in my guild or friends, we “only” play the game, as in doing events, dungeons, story quests, puzzles, exploring maps, helping guildies, fractals and leveling alters. I tried once… I even made a spreadsheet in google docs with some coding for updating stuff from gw2spidy, but never really used it.

But hey, I still have some friends working on their own legendaries and would love some advice, so if you don’t mind sharing your knowledge on vendoring things, they would really appreciate that

Why aren’t you guys buying runestones in the absolute last step?

My legendary: The Predator

I’ve been working on its progress more rigorously for about 3 months now. What I’m missing:

Gift of Fortune
- 30% there for Gift of Might and Gift of Magic T6 materials
- Have all the Ectos needed
- Have the mystic clovers

Some general comments:

I’ve found the lodestones to be the most painful part of the process – I ended up paying lots of gold to buy them instead of grinding it.

I’m also not going to use the “Mystic Toilet Bowl” and will wait for a precursor to drop from a dragon chest. I absolutely abhor gambling.

Some advice (completely unsolicited of course):

Getting the Badge of Honor:

You should run the the “Mistwrought Vault” jumping puzzle every day. Each character on your account can run it once per 24 hours, and there are 3 borderlands. You can get up a maximum of 18 badges per character per day.

Mine’s finished and on the trading post for 1699 gold. Because since Anet added the unicorns to the Dreamer’s animation, I just don’t like it anymore.

Luckily once it sells I can purchase all the mats to make a Bifrost straight up and still have gold left over. Of course I’ll have to farm Arah a bit, but it won’t be too bad.

EDIT: Pics or it didn’t happen. Now buy it so I can make a cooler legendary.

I got The Colossus, back in November, in the loot chest from the mother of all krakas in the Lost Shore event.
Back then i was still pretty green at this game, so i didnt even noticed it was a percursor weapon. I thought to myself: “Oh look, shiny!!!” So i soulbounded the kitten thing instead of selling it and saving a little more for Dawn or Dusk.
Now im stuck on going for the Juggernaut.
But i shouldnt complain, got a percursor without even trying.
Anyway, last month i decided to start it by doing the stuff that is common for all legendaries:
Gift of Mastery Done!
Gift of Fortune so far:
– Got 65 Mystic Clovers
– Have about 50 Ectos left
– Have about 100 or so of each T6 mats

If i keep going for the Juggernaut, i think i have almost everything for the gift of metal, with the exception of Orichalcum Ingots. Got 110 i think.
Have 0 Icy Runestons, havent done any path of Sorrows Embrace Dungeon yet, have 0 Molten Lodestones, but i have lots of the other lodestones. I think i can sell the others, and buy almost all of the molten ones since they are cheaper.

2. Do you have any gifts? If so, which one? I have a few gifts. Just finished the Gift of Mastery yesterday. I also have half of the Gift of Fortune. Just need gift of Magic and about 200 ectos. I already have The Energizer and most of the gift of Frostfang. I’m all over the place >.<

3. Which gift are you working on? And how far have you come on it? I’m currently working on any gift really. Anytime I get a gold, it goes into buy orders for t6 mats. I also farm ori and save gossamer. I have 4 80s though, so I can get all the ori I need in like 2 days.

4. Addition information you want us to know, maybe a picture. I’m crazy and aiming for 2 legendaries at once. I’ll probably get the moot first and then work on Frostfang. I just don’t want to deal with the forge or saving 400g for the precursor atm.

I changed my legendary to JUST the Moot since I had the precursor. Ended up selling all the lodestones and such that I had for frostfang and made enough to buy the last half of my stack of dust and 100 blood.

Finished my Gift of Fortune yesterday. All I have left is 96 runestones. CoF, here I come!

Well i decided to go for my legendary. going for The Dreamer.
I just need a few T6 mats, 125 ectos, 100 icy runestones, and the precursor.
so close i can…. well not so close since The Lover is currently around 650g :/

I finally finished Frostfang a couple days ago, but since I don’t really play my ranger anymore and have only used my warrior for farming dungeons, I think I might try to trade it for The Juggernaut for my guardian.

I can’t believe with all these posts that noone else is going for The Predator.

I’ll have mine in a couple of days, just need 3 vistas in Jade Quarry’s BL (yeah that sucks), 20 skill points and some CoE tokens.

A friend of mine got his one couple months ago. Some love that… that rifle.

Update! Have the gift of fortune, gift of mastery, and gifts of bifrost. No precursor. I have given up. And guess what! Ive been enjoying the game a lot more now that im not worried about getting a legendary.
