Decided to make Sunrise for my little mesmer. She’s only level 63, but should be 80 by the end of the process.
91% world completion on my second character
Everything ready for gift of sunrise… Except I learned last night, after farming the last bit of ori ore for gift of light, that I deleted the character that had 400 in armorsmithing!
Have dawn and 67 mystic clovers.
Gifts of magic and might… I have about 80 of each t6 mat.
Doing lots of wvw for karma.
So, to do: farm lots of karma, buy t6 materials, and get armorsmith to 400 (again).
Don’t do it! Once you have spent well over the cost of just buying it, you’ll regret it. But stranger things have happened, like getting a precursor from the mystic forge. Good Luck!
I have had all three gifts and only lacking the precursor (Zap) since just before the anniversary.
I will wait for the scavenger hunt/crafting because I still believe there is nothing LEGENDARY about RNG, credit card purchase, or gold farming.
I want to play GW2 to acquire a Legendary Weapon by doing legendary things. The other three gifts could be earned by doing so. It’s time for the Precursor to be acquirable through legendary deeds also.
Because I don’t recall this in any of the Lore:
Legend tells of the legendary exploits of the legendary first king of Ascalon slaying the same village of Charr 10,000 times so that he could amass enough gold to buy the precursor to the great flaming sword from the peasant who happened to have found it on a wolf he slew while protecting his farm.
I’d like to say to everyone who has posted here: thank you! This thread has been such an inspiration to me on my journey to craft a legendary.
I’ve been playing the game since beta, and up until recently I had always written legendaries off as either too complicated for me to make, or just too much out of my reach in every way. However, I started reading up on them in late September and I realized it was an actual possibility for me, and that I had actually acquired a bit of the means to make one.
After selling everything I own today, from unbound items to mats, I was able to afford Dawn.
As of so far I have:
- Dawn
- Everything but Map completion for Gift of Mastery
- Gift of Ascalon
- 77 Mystic Clovers
Man I’m such a ways off, but it’s crazy to me how far I’ve come since I’ve started! I’ll certainly post back here when I have Sunrise to help share the inspiration with others beginning to mad journey!
Journey for quip has started! have gift of mastery, 28 clovers, about 30 of each t6 mat and dunno what i need for gift of quip! I finished word complete today and i said i would now do a whole ton of champ farming for a while so i can really get a good kitten of it done all in one go to feel like some progress is being made!
I have recently just finished the Incinerator and after a few days of consideration I have decided I want Bolt.
What I have:
1x Gift of Exploration
1x Gift of Battle
1x Gift of Ascalon
And a few T6 mats lying around.

Ive got a long way to go but I am determined to get Bolt (Even if playing S/D wont be as viable) I also have a nice way to save money, every time I get 10g ill place an order on Bolt for 9g, and eventually when I place enough orders I can just take all that money off of the TP and buy Zap (Just using it as a way to store money).

I do as well (Guild bank) except I can store it (Gold) on the go also, I don’t know why but it feels less tempting to with draw the gold when its on the TP. :P
It’s sad and hope-inducing at the same time to read all of your posts. I am just beginning my journey to Bolt because I am now 1% away from world completion. My goal is to have all the materials by March 15, 2014. I am not going to try for Zap in the mystic toilet. I have close to 200g now and with a few smart purchases I’ve made recently (which should pay off in January), I hope to be able to buy it off the TP. I will also be farming hard for good drops. My magic find is at about 135% so I hope that helps!
As a starting point, I have already:
150-ish ectos
over 500 hundred skills points
15 obsidian shards + enough karma to buy the rest
65-ish mystic coins
Oh ya, and I’m already at 400 level crafting in everything. Time to buy another bank slot!
Actually I have a question on crafting – I want to get Bolt for one character that has no crafting skill. I did all my crafting to level up a different character. If I craft things like ingots can I do that with one toon and put them in the bank so my main can use it?
I’m working on the Juggernaut for my Warrior.
Only need about 120-130 of each T6 and the Colossus. Saving money currently, either I’ll by the Colossus off the TP when I have enough, or the Scavenger Hunt comes earlier.

had gift of incinerator and gift of mastery already…. was clearing bags today, threw 4 rare daggers in forge… BAM spark…WHAAAA!!??? spent 1 hour dropping stuff in forge to make gift of fortune T_T
god of RNG was kind to me today
best way for me to make it was: do every day 1 lv 48 fractal + world boss train + ori/ancient node walk + + CoF p1/p2 run + FG/karka farm/wvw zerg busting when had time; the bank got certanly very empty today lol
i saved dagger drops from mobs and threw them in MF when i had enough
I have everything I need to make a legendary except for the precursor and the specific gift. Yeap, I do have enough money to make the specific gift for lets say sunrise, but I’ll wait untill thwy implement precurspr farming and new legendaries, since right now none pf the legendaries are to my liking (except for sunrise maybe but I don’t use the gs so often)
So, finally got my 500th symbol of Koda and decided to splurge some more gold for my lodestones. I now have everything crafted, except for the Gift of Fortune, which still needs the Gift of Might to complete.
Still lacking Dusk for Twilight, so I’ve started aiming for Sunrise, The Dreamer, and Bifrost.
The journey for Twilight kept me interested in the game, and gave me a reason so play, so why not do it again!
I might be in a little over my head, going for three at once. We’ll see how it goes.
So far, I have the Gift of Ascalon for Sunrise, the Opal Orbs for both Bifrost and The Dreamer, and both sigils for Bifrost and Sunrise.
Just finished incinerator about 2 days ago. A very nice friend lent me about 120g, to finish everything else off though so I am now very far in debt lol. I am quite happy with it though and already a third of the way to being able to pay her back.

So, I’ve chosen to aim, mainly, for Sunrise, ‘cause I’m making it for my partner.

Going for Frostfang. I have Gift of Mastery, Gift of Metal, Clovers, 80+ of each T6, all of my Glacial lodes, and 1/3 of the Corrupted. Not looking forward to getting Precursor.
After I created my first ascended weapon (Zolja’s reaver) and saw what kind of pain it was, I decided to go straight for the Legendary (if it’s supposed to hurt, might as well get twilight straight ahead, right..). So, I am slowly grinding for gold and acquiring the needed stuff, got:
- enough skills to buy bloodstone shard
- gift of battle
- halfway through gift of ascalon
- 90 obsidian shards (crying whilst knowing I need 500 total)
- need 2x contested vistas in WvW to have full map
Honestly, I am even fine with grinding gold for dusk, but I am disgusted by the gift of mastery uber-grind.
Any tips on what to focus at are appreciated. I am sort of focused at getting gift of mastery since that is now a karma grind only at this point. Should I get the karma from orr events or is there anything better to go with?
