So I have been reading different stats on trying to make precursor items
(http://guildwars2.mmmos.com/?page=view&id=2537&title=more-legendary-precursor-crafting-research-results-from-1400-rare-greatswords)

I’m starting to get the feeling that its not really possible to make a precursor with crafted items. Would that be fair to assume, and fair in general? Are we suppose to use crafted items as ecto farms when we finally do get the precursor? Honestly this would make magic find even more valuable.

Can anyone confirm that there is a different tier of items created when you use crafted items?

Linsey stated, I believe in her “official response thread” (I think) that the tiers are “rare” and “exotic” and though all rares and exotics are not created equally (some forged, some drops, some crafted) they are all equally “rare” or “exotic”

i still dont get why the rate of getting an exotic out of combining rares is so low.

Someone just posted that they forged a Dawn with 4 carrion krait slayers, so it is possible with crafted weapons.
