I am totally against precursor crafting as the people who are complaining about if don’t have the money to buy one in the first place. Even though i only have one legendary and took months of farming to reach the amount of gold needed to buy my precursor I would hate to see devs make them easier to acquire. Even if precursor crafting was implemented all the people who were complaining before about precursors would now be complaining instead about the prices of matts or whatever is needed to craft such precursor and would still be unable to craft one or it would take the same amount of money just to buy one off the tp which is not what they really want… Legendaries are supposed to be for the select few that can wait and go through the process of farming to get a precursor and farm or buy all the mats and complete gifts so making the journey easier just would mean that legend arose would then be not so legendary…
It should be a journey to acquire a legendary and each should have it’s own separate story
Legendaries are supposed to be for the select few that can wait and go through the process of farming to get a precursor and farm or buy all the mats and complete gifts so making the journey easier just would mean that legend arose would then be not so legendary…
They’re supposed to be that, or that’s just what they happen to be at the moment?
Can you really not imagine a more interesting, more impressive way of getting a precursor than farming for money, one that would make legendaries more legendary?
I’m not saying precursors should ever be cheap, but it’s not like legendary weapons are ever going to be easier to make than ascended gear, and ascended gear isn’t exactly cheap.
Legendary should stay legendary. I don’t want GW2 go as low as WoW went. I don’t have any legendaries nor ever had eny precursors and I like it the way it is. Difficult.
By difficult, do you mean tedious?
I don’t know why the assumption is that creating a new, more interesting way of creating a precursor necessarily makes obtaining a legendary weapon less cool. Have some imagination.
First off, you make the assumption that precursor crafting will be easy. As if anet would make you chop down 4 trees and have one. Precursor crafting will be a long and tedious process.
Secondly, Legendaries were made unimpressive the minute they allowed them to be trade able on the TP and any yahoo with deep pockets could get one.
In my opinion to get a legendary it should require a sort of… test if you will. Something like a sort of solo dungeon or a trial that tests your skill to the bare bone. A form of quest where you need to prepare and study your class so that you can play it blind and perfect. No help of anybody else should be allowed. Its only you, the equipment you bring with you, the food and buffs you bring aswell your pure determination to get what you came for.
It should test your abilities to fight and use your skills when they are needed. Mobs that are tailored specially against the weakness of the class you play, same for bosses and environment that got a certain…random element to it so that it is never completely the same for each one that strives for his\her weapon. It shouldnt be able to get exploited with “stacking” or bugging. When you are in.. kitten gets serios.
A form of risk should be involved… maybe something like limited lives\trys to get it right and if you fail you need to wait a week to try it again and you need a “ticket” that costs arround 100 gold or something to even enter to make it even more serios so that if you emerge with your legendary weapon you actually can say “thats right, i did it and i claimed my weapon cause i deserve it”.
Though… it wouldnt be fair for those who invest so much money into the game to get their weapon…there should be a whole new set of legendaries with a selection of visuals to choose from. No precursors, no gifts, no crafting mat sink… no grinding…, no rng, nothing but pure skill.
Maybe there should be a sort of training mode too to get used to what you need to face to get what you want.
Maybe even add sort of “kittening arround” mode to it where you get good loot at the end, so it also would serve as a form of end game content where you can polish your skills and a party mode where the “trial” scales accordingly to the group and the mobs\bosses and environment adjusts to the groupĀ“s makeup so that there is not a form of meta you can use to casually wander through it.
Well im just daydreaming.. but this would make legendaries actually legendary rather then a money sink. Thats just my opinion to that issue… nothing more
Does anybody else see the Mawdrey backpiece as a sort of test for crafting precursors/precursor scavenger hunt? We had to go around to different areas to collect essences and then combine them with other ingredients to continue upgrading. I could see precursor crafting work like that, only much, much longer and way more expensive. It would keep precursors time gated and expensive, so that people could either buy them straight from the TP or stretch out the process and craft it themselves.
