The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
Precursors….. blind luck (RNG) or grinding champions to pay TP flippers is your only way. There’s nothing legendary about that.
The whole concept of precursors in their current state is fundamentally flawed.
This must change.
As I have stated before, Precursors (and completed Legendary weapons) should NEVER have been sellable on the TP. There is nothing “Legendary” about buying Excalibur in a Bazaar…..
My legendary coin collection, including many legendary coins, was almost entirely found at bazaars, yard sales, and similar sales.
“Legendary” is not a description of the acquisition process, it is a description of the item and its capabilities/features.
Legendaries, which offer no-stat increases over other weapons, cost a lot of time, effort, and money to make? I’m so shocked. Maybe, gasp, Anet doesn’t want everyone running around with Bifrosts and Twilights. They want them to be prestigious. Meanwhile, in other MMOs, Legendary weapons would be such a stat increase that anyone with a legendary could solo any dungeon asleep. Be happy they are just a skin.

I’ve gotten four precursors in my days. 2 as drops from enemies in WvW, and 1 from the forge and TP each. As for the The Legend I bought on the trading post, I got that gold from smart buying and selling. I’d buy a ton of something and sit on it until it went up and price and than I sold it. I never flipped because that’s boring and bad for the economy. I only like to spend ~1hr a week working on the TP.

And yet you used it to describe your coin collection? Gotcha.
I believe the use of “Legendary” in this context is to imply that the item (or the acquisition) was such that songs, stories and poetry were written to pass the information on to future generations (with embellishments, exaggerations and fiction added…much like your coin collection, no doubt ).
Eh, how about just apply a ceiling price to precursors so they wont exceed the X gold mark. This way, people who wants the legends have a clear and sure amount of gold to farm.
That creates a black market. Trust me, you want that even less than the current situation.
