The current asking price for the lowest is 629g and the current highest bid is 505g. I am waiting to post The Legend I have until I see a buy out of 600+. Did those of you that bought it save up and buy at the asking price or did you low-ball and wait for some sap to sell it at your offer? Its too expensive to post then re-post if I am undercut, hence my dilemma.

I was lucky enough to get The Legend but my goal is Spark for the Incinerator.

Precursors are a low velocity market. Despite that, the supply cycles more than you would think…. John Smith posted at one point that 7 & 9 dawns and dusks traded in a single day. (those numbers may be off, I’m feeling too lazy to go link the post.)

Now those are some of the most sought after precursors, so I can’t comment to The Legend, but I think you should expect to list the item for a few days before things cycle enough to sell it.

Likewise, remember that buy orders hurt the purchaser in no way. It costs them nothing to take down a buy order and put it back up to be ‘back on top of the stack’ as they save money. I would hazard that more buy orders are filled than sell orders because of this….. People who list an item for sale are gambling with a listing fee and are more likely to let an item ride at a given price rather than eat the listing fee to relist….. people placing buy orders have no such barrier to adjusting the price they are willing to pay.

Also remember, holding too long could hurt you too. If they put in a way to obtain them reliably, i bet the market will crash for precursors. Of course you will prolly have time still to list it but the minute ANet posts a guaranteed way, it will be too late. Just food for thought.

And personally i think 500ish for one of the big 3(dawn,dusk,legend) is a fair price. I picked up dawn on a buy offer of 473g.

I would add The Lover to your list, it hovers around the same price. And agreed, it feels about fair.

If you observe some of these precursors, you’ll see that there are some thresholds, people bidding past a certain point and people selling below a certain point, that are just about always met.

I’d advise watching it for a few days to get a feel for your specific item’s thresholds and go from there. Do this and you’ll see where about you can get the most without it sitting too long. And if buying, you’ll see where about you can get it for the least without waiting and/or possible out bidding.

I did this when selling Dawn and buying Dusk, both transactions were completed within hours of them being posted.
