Despite all the new rares and exotics ppl are getting from easy events such as maw,one would think the price of ectos would be cheaper,yet it still fluctuates around 30s

Without researching it, I would assume people are buying more due to increase income keeping prices up, people are not selling as many due to the ease of collecting for things like legendaries, or people are just refusing to undercut enough to make a difference.

Supply may have increased, but it’s likely that demand has also increased. This could be from more people seeing the price of Ectos fall and thinking they can now afford their Exotic gear/Legendaries and snapping up the Ectos, to people simply stockpiling Ectos as wealth or investments.

Considering that they were sitting around 38-40s before the update, I’d say they have come down quite a bit. That’s a 25% decrease. It would probably be more, but as Zaxares said, demand has possibly increased, due to the decrease. Give it a bit of time and it will probably continue to go down.

Ectos are going to go up. I envision Arenanet is going to fix guesting a bit – perhaps limit chest farming to account

Also new ascended gear from the laurel guys need them. I don’t see the price changing for quite some time.

The ectos for ascended gear won’t matter – the laurels are what matters. People will rather do the guild missions.

If you can do the guild missions; all my friends are in our small guild, it could be quite awhile before we can even open those, and they looked tough to do on top of that.

Someone vastly overestimates the amount of people who are ever going to do guild missions due to the restrictive requirements to access them.

I have not been selling mine. Love the new ectos but they are stocking up in my bank.. so that could be it.. people are keeping them rather than selling them. I will sell yellows if I do not feel lucky but ectos I do not sell anymore.. lesson learned after selling them early in the game because I did not “need” them lol.

Ectos won’t fall until the rares do. Since there are so many types of rares that can produce ectos, the new supply increase hasn’t caught up.

Unless I’m wrong, the chest opening is per character per day, and is not linked to server, so there is no advantage in guesting to chest farm (although admittedly I haven’t tried it).

My jaw would hit the floor if I were wrong about this, so let me know if I am.

You’re absolutely right. People simply use guesting to skip the wait time in between events. Say you just did Jormag, now you have to wait a few hours to do it again on another character. Oh what’s this? It’s open on XXX server? Let’s guest there on an alt and get it done now!

The main reason why guesting was a problem was that they also did a stealth server side edit that decreased the amount of people needed in a map for an overflow shard to be created. There was a 1-2 day period where people would be VERY lucky to be in their home world in any of the world event maps, regardless of a world event being active. How do I know this? It was on the German forums and some kind soul brought the information to a thread here. Why did they do this? Because people were complaining about lag.

Morale of the story: Be careful what you wish for, and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stop throwing misinformation everywhere.

Today for a short period of time Ectos were sold for less than 26s. Then it stabilised at around 27s. So IMO the price is falling quite nicely.

Yes, I can concur. The price has dropped, but I wish they were around 10s each.

Its per character, per day, and per server. so one 1 toon you can do maw 3 times on different servers in one day and still get all chests.

Have you done this? I believe it is only 1 chest/toon/day on 1 server.

It is in fact one per character per day, no matter the server.
