So I’m not sure if this idea has been proposed before, and if it has been suggested in such a manner I apologize! However, I think I have an idea on how to allow for infused amulets without making them OP or breaking players’ banks.

Introducing: Ascended Amulets 2.0!
Ascended Amulets that were introduced BEFORE AA2.0 could remain unchanged – if the players preferred — and could be referred to as ‘Legacy’ or ‘Heritage’ Ascended Amulets, i.e. [Bud of the Pale Tree (Legacy)]. However, instead of being left unusable in the new proposed system, players who already/currently own a Legacy Ascended Amulet or purchase a post-updated Ascended Amulet need only to take their trinket to the nearest Mystic Forge with a handful of materials to transform their Ascended Amulet into an Ascended Amulet 2.0!

Here are some proposed recipes using the Bud of the Pale Tree as an example. I have put together three separate lists purely as suggestions that could allow for players who primarily participate in other game types than Fractals (such as WvW or Dungeons), known as the ‘Dungeon Delver’s Recipe’ and ‘Master of the Mists’ Recipe’ alongside one that would be slightly easier to acquire especially for players who run Fractals frequently, the ‘Fractal Frequenter’s Recipe’.

Dungeon Delver’s Recipe
[Bud of the Pale Tree (Legacy)]
[Gift of the Dungeoneer] (purchased from any dungeon-specific token vendor for 200 Dungeon Tokens — i.e. 200 Ascalonian Tears)
[Gift of the Guilds] (purchased for 5 [Guild Commendations]) OR [50 Obsidian Shards]
[50 Globs of Ectoplasm]

Master of The Mists’ Recipe
[Bud of the Pale Tree [Legacy])
[Gift of the Mists] (a single-use item purchased from the Eternal Battlegrounds from any vendor for [200 Badges of Honor])
[Guild Catapult Blueprints] (approximately a 10-gold purchase)
[100 Dragonite Ore] OR [1 Dragonite Ingot] OR [50 Globs of Ectoplasm]

Fractal Frequenter’s Recipe
[Bud of the Pale Tree (Legacy)]
[Gift of Mistlock] (purchased from BUY-4373 in the Mistlock Observatory for 200 Fractal Relics]
[5 Pristine Fractal Relics]
[1 Shard of Crystallized Mists Essence] OR [3 Globs of Coagulated Mists Essence]

…all resulting in Bud of the Pale Tree (Infused)!

Now you’re probably wondering what the benefit of infusing an amulet through such a lengthy process could reward players with. I would suggest the following:

*Players choose ONE stat set to permanently ‘Imbue’ their new Ascended Amulet with, such as Soldier’s, Dire+Rabid, Berserker+Valkyrie, Celestial, etc.
*Their new Ascended Amulet comes standard with ONE (1) empty Agony Infusion Slot, ONE (1) empty Utility Slot, and ONE (1) empty “Wildcard Infusion Slot”. Wildcard Infusion Slots can accept one of the following:
< Versatile Simple Infusion < Offensive Infusion
^
Utility Infusion
v
Defensive Infusion > Agony Infusion

However, to prevent players from just stacking two Magical/Karmic/Gilded/Experienced Infusion(s) for a massive boost, the effectiveness of two of the same ‘stacked’ Utility Infusions would be reduced — using Magical Infusions as an example, the first Magical Infusion would be fully effective at 20% bonus to magic find, but the second infusion’s potency would be halved to 10% for a total of +30% magic find bonus.

This way, you can tailor your amulet to your playstyle — whether you need agony resistance or whether you’d prefer a little boost to your magic find, karma, gold or experience gains! Maybe such a system could be added for all ascended trinkets?

What do you think, folks?

What do Guild Commendations have to do with Dungeons and why require 100 Dragonite Ore/1 Ingot to purchase an item versus requiring 100 Dragonite Ore/1 Ingot?

Hmm, good point — I guess guild commendations are just sort of an alternative currency for those who would prefer to spend guild commendations over shards, since guild missions are something a lot of PvE-types (like me!) do alongside dungeons.

You also raise a good point about requiring an item purchase with dragonite ore/ingots — I had a HUGE moment of duh and forgot you could put those in the forge. >.> I’ll edit that in!
