With upcoming ascended armor crafting, I am not seeing how we will be able to craft rabid gear. I have seen no way to craft rabid gossamer insignias. Guessing I am missing something but I am kind of concerned at the moment

If ascended armor crafting follows the same structure as weapon crafting, the Insignias which arent craftable, will be able to be salvaged from non-crafted Exotic Armor with the corresponding stats. So if you want to get a head start, try to get your hands on some Exotic armor with Rabid stats (maybe from dungeon tokens or one of the named armor sets) and salvage them after ascended armor crafting is live.

Dungeon armor and weapons can be salvaged.

It would make no sense that anet put rabid stats in the game just to be uncraftable once ascended armor is released

As wanze has told you, you’ll be able to craft ascended armor with rabid stats and the inscription will probably be obtainable via salvaging just like it happens with rabid weapons.

good to know that dungeon armor can be broken down. Right now there is no crafting of rabid armor even for exotic. It is one main reason I am concerned for Ascended. I had to get my existing rabid armor from temples, wvw badges etc

Rabid armor is also available as drops.
Khilbron’s, Vatlaaw’s, and Galrath’s sets for light, medium and heavy.

This was not available for crafting ascended weapons, so I wouldn’t hold my breath for armor….

Anyways to OP, there might be a recipe you can purchase for Karma like the Dire set, or maybe non craftable exotic rabid gear will be changed so that you can salvage it for the insignia. I think we all have to wait and see what’s going to happen.

weapon crafting allows you to salvage gear with rabid stats to get “rabid imbued inscriptions” however breaking down rabid armor does not allow you to get “rabid gossamer insignias” If ascended armor crafting works like the weapon crafting then this is going to be an issue. Have to disagree with this. I crafted exotic rabid weapons pre-ascended weapon crafting. I am going off memory btw and I am old and senile. I really wish someone from Anet would simply confirm that Rabid Ascended armor will be available for crafting

Ok. I get it. RABID armor ONLY exists on EXOTIC items you cannot salvage….where would the T6 insignia come from?

My point above was that it should be the same for weapons / armor, but without a source for RABID insignia, I now see what the actual issue IS.

My opinion is that you will NOT be able to craft Ascended RABID armor to begin with (simply because there is no SOURCE for the needed Insignia). Wasn’t there some addition to a Guild NPC that would allow for obtaining some other non-craftable insignia/inscriptions? Maybe that’s a solution?

No, you don’t get it, reread the post, specially what Khisanth.2948 said.
You cannot salvage rabid armor that you’ve bought with karma/badges of honor, however, you CAN salvage rabid armor from dungeons (CM, TA, HoTW and Arah), and you can also buy it from the TP (Khilbron’s, Vatlaaw’s, and Galrath’s) as someone said above.

Now, paying atention to what anet has done in the past and aplying a little bit of logic/common sense, we can predict that anet can either make rabid insignias drop from rabid armor just like they did with rabid inscriptions droping from rabid weapons so you could craft ascended rabid weapons, or make them available from a vendor like the sentinel’s orichalcum imbued inscription.
So YES, you’ll be able to craft rabid ascended armor just like you are now able to craft ascended weapons with rabid stats

Ok, so this expected to be added as a salvage option when the Armor is released. Good to know as I was unable to find any info on RABID Intricate Gossamer Insignia from the wiki or GW2spidy.

Sorry if I came off as a jerk (no excuse) but the exceptions in what can and what cannot be crafted (now and in the future) is a bit of a complex issue and I see now why the question is being raised (tho I think assuming ANet will treat Ascended Armor just like the weapons is a decent bet).

you can not get inscriptions from crafted exotic weapons, but you can get them from found items and named items with the right stats.
you may not be able to salvage most sources of rabid armor, but there are 3 named sets that come to mind: Khilbron, Vatlaaw, Galrath.
It is likely Anet will do something similar to weapons when they release ascended armor (where you can salvage some exotic armor to get insignia)
