Q:

Was very bummed to discover last night after grinding out mats for my next tier of rare leather garb, that the appearance was exactly the same as the last. If your masterwork(green) and fine(blue) crafted gear changes between tiers, wouldn’t it be safe to assume that your rare(yellow) would as well? I assumed so, but it’s not. Very disappointing, Arenanet.

A:

You are correct. The same is true for light and heavy armours as well. The rare crafted armours are the same for all tiers. I agree, this is very disappointing.

Why disapointing? You only craft for the stats, the looks you can copy with trans stones. Or did you forgot about those?

Crafting is supposed to be for the looks. The stats come off the random items you find in the world.

Not true. Crafted armor and weapons have around 20% higher stats than the purchased or looted counterparts.

I toatally agree with nimajneb, i cannot believe that my yellow 35 armor looked exactly like my lev 50 yellow armor, i mean its not like anet is lacking in the art department, all any 1 has to do is look at the game to see that. and i cannot stand when some 1 brings up the trasmutate comment to that complaint, that is just a rediculous comment, heck its insulting that the gear looks the same, i mean with the way the 1st yellow tier looked i was expecting something really cool 4 the next tier. But noooooooo, seriously i wouldnt even be complaining, but u all did so well with alot of the the game but with this and dungeon difficulty i just have to wonder….

but with that said good job u all i know u cant think of everything, but it would b nice if u fixed that crafting issue with some really cool looking stuff which u have already proven u can do, and pleeeeaaase fix dungeon difficulty to cater to elite and casual players. =)

You get tons and tons of transmutation stones so you can use whatever “skin” you want for each item. I fail to see why people would complain about the looks of any gear if arenanet gives you the means to change it for free.

Well, one reason could be that it would be great, if you didn´t need to change it, to make look different?
The idea of having crafted armor and weapons that stands out and are recognizable as crafted armor and being able to see their tier/level by their looks is a cool thing in my opinion and the big question should be: Why not?
That you can use transmutation stones does not give any reason to neither why there´s no change in looks or why there should not be.
