Recipe: eternal sands (focus)
You mean piles of bloodstone dust, right.
Apologies, I meant sand. Edited the post.
I started crafting one, gemstones seem to be rare, though. Do they also come from bandit chests?

Gemstone buy orders sure fill slowly. At least i am in double digits already.

from what i hear they are from bandit chests, how much are they on buyout?
Currently only a couple available on buyout between 30-100g.
I got mine partially through buy outs and buy orders for an average of 25g.
First one to be forged, i guess.
If you want to be the first one to equip one, i will list it on the tp as soon as some stuff sells, need some gold for the listing fee.

Anyone have any info on where the Amalgamated Gemstones come from? (Given their rarity, it must be from someplace rare, so not Lost Bandit Chests. The Drydock Scratch JP chest, maybe?)
Wanze, could you post a preview picture of what Eternal Sands looks like?

Cool, so it looks like the Hourglass from Hidden Arcana. Don’t think it’ll fit my Mesmer (colour scheme clash), but it’s a neat new skin nonetheless.
2 listed at this time one at 750g lol and one at 500g. They cost about 350g +sand atm to craft
Heh, so somebody undercut Wanze already? Or maybe he crafted another one and put it up for 500g.
And now it’s down to 100g………….lol
Looks nice, there’s really lots of pretty focus skins.
Save the Bell Choir activity!
Got 1 buy order filled for 50g and 1 sold for 490g.

Buy order crafting is around 50g atm so easy profits to be made. Normally I wouldn’t say this, but I gtg out for a while so I won’t be able to cash in any more while the getting is good.
Back and the profit is still good but people are really starting to realize it. Btw the recipe is not 250 mystic coins but rather 50.
Thanks, noted!
Edit: it appears you can craft amalgamated gemstones in the forge. The recipe is:
3 rare crests (shaman etc.)
3 rare crests
3 rare crests
1 pile of crystalline dust.
Just tested it, it works. With any rare crest, shaman and soldier being the cheapest currently.

That info surely shook things up. Gemstones crashed from 2g 50s to 60s and essence of time sky rocketed from 1g 50s to 10g 30s.
Haha, nicely played Anet. Even though I will propably loose some gold on this in the long run, i really like the implementation of forging gemstones for crests.
I was still flipping gemstones today as I was too bored to farm more piles of sands and found it weird how they sold in bulk out of a sudden.
Then someone bought out all Essences of time, which was weird.
But the Essence now being the rare ingredient instead of the gemstones certainly explains it.
I wonder if Gemstones also drop from Bandit Chests (personally i didnt get one yet) or if they are exclusively forged. IF thats the case, whoever discovered that recipe first propably made a nice buck.

Some people are claiming that you can also substitute Orbs for Crests in the gemstone recipe (but you can’t mix them). So it’s either:
1 Crystalline Dust
3 x Crests
3 x Crests
3 x Crests
OR
1 Crystalline Dust
3 x Orbs
3 x Orbs
3 x Orbs
Haven’t tested this yet myself, so would someone in game be able to verify this? If true, I think this is a clever way to both give a boost to the price of some undervalued Orbs (I’m looking at you, Sapphire/Beryl Orbs), as well as increase demand for Crystals thanks to Jeweler transmorgs.

Yeah works as well. Most orbs are already away from vendor value quite a bit. I sold a couple of stacks at 5s each that i posted months ago.
That puts alot more mats out there to craft gemstones with. Crests spiked in price so hard because they arent a collectible, so people didnt have much stored away from them as orbs.
I think i gonna take advantage of the prices of gemstones right now, while they are cheap to forge and buy some up, while hoping they introduce new recipes requiring it.
Gemstones sure look shiny on a cape, especially while flying on a mount.

Plat Doubloons work as well…

I dunno about Amalgamated Gemstones getting more uses… I mean, look at Foxfire. It’s abundantly gatherable, but it only has one use (for Mawdrey), and it seems that that market may be finally playing out, seeing as how profits for Foxfire and all other Mawdrey components have been steadily dwindling.

Well you cant really expect a new use for a new mat in every patch. And foxfire was rather badly implemented in my opinion because it created another mat faucet (elder wood), while the mgemstones created a mat sink. So its way easier to profit from gemstones now, while the mats used to forge it are cheap.
Would be nice to see though, how it would play out, if they changed foxfire to t1-2 nodes.

Yeah, I agree about that. They should have given Foxfire a rarer chance to drop from all tiers of wood. That way we wouldn’t have seen a huge glut of Elder Wood, and more likely an increase overall in all tiers.
