Regarding Blade Shards
You cna forge bladeshards from watchwork sprockets or farm Aetherblades in EotM or the jumping puzzle.

Oh.
kitten , nevermind.
Just chiming in, in case others want alternate solutions (3 silver per sprocket can get expensive, not to mention I am disgusted that only one unlimited mining tool produces sprockets and therefore refuse to buy sprockets from the TP. But thats a separate conversation). Moving on…
I recently had to acquire about 400 blade shards to make a second backpiece. In addition to using the mystic forge recipe, you can run aether path of TA, park a few alts at the Not So Secret JP, and mine your home instance. If you were lucky enough to choose a watchwork mining pick, those will also produce sprockets through mining any ore.
Hmm… I suddenly wonder if THAT’S the main source of demand for Sprockets. Not so much for crafting Keeper’s stat gear, but for transmuting Blade Shards so people can craft the Spinal Blades backpieces.

I dont know if even keepers gear is the main sink for sprockets. I would go for the sigils and runes that require sprockets. They sell quite fast and give 1-3g profit each at times.

Yeah, I just remembered those too. The Bursting and Malice sigils would definitely be popular, but I thought the other sigils/runes were dismissed by most players as being sub-par. (Of course, most players use whatever weird and wonderful builds they want anyway. I myself use a Sigil of Renewal on my Ele’s staff.)
Still, I’m always surprised at how fast sigils and runes move. Are players constantly swapping out upgrades on their gear? I basically planned out the final gear I wanted to have, then once I reached Exotics, I crafted/bought what I needed and never touched them again. I’ve noticed that every so often, minor/major upgrades will also go through surges in prices.

The surge of minor upgrades the last few days was due to trial weekend.

Can’t believe I didn’t make that connection. This is why I don’t play the TP. XD

This weekend i got whispers from 3 random forum users in game asking for my advice why minor runes/sigils went up in price, so you are not alone.

Also people forge major runes and sigils to try and get more valuable ones via the forge so they might buy a stack at a time which is why they move so quick
