[SUGGESTION] "Daily limit" vs "daily quota"
Not bad. But it would still be a cap, and not so much of a quota. Even if you increase the cap it would still be gated. The only thing that would change is once a month there would be a huge influx of damask/deldrimor/spirit wood in the market, instead of a more steady influx of those components each day.
A quota imples the minimum required each day. While i agree that the time gate does make it more difficult to obtain, changing it i feel would cause more problems especially in the market than its worth.

Well, not everyone would use their quota the same way. So I would not worry about something like a huge influx at the same time.
As quota would be given daily, some would wait, some would use it as they get it, and overall it’ll be the same, just a bit more would be crafted as when one player gets a bit more materials, they may use unused quota to get something else the same day instead waiting one more day.
I would personally like this as well since I play often but not every day, but I figure part of these daily limits is to entice people to log in daily, so I don’t expect Arenanet to put much effort in changing this system.
I don’t see how an influx would happen, unless everyone agrees to cash in on their “quota” at the same time each month, which seems pretty ridiculous to me.

You would still need to login daily to get your quota increased. I would not go as far as requiring completing daily achievements to get the quota increased as not everyone enjoys doing dailies, but personally I would not be against that either.
You’re missing the point. They want you to log in, every single day.
This is actually your “reward” for doing so.

This….OPs suggestion is bypassing the actual intent of the time-gated mechanics…..to get you to log in EVERY day AND be doing something active (which is more likely to make you do something else and then something else…etc.)

Fair point. How about everyday you log in and complete dailies, just the 5 minimum, you would get the credit?
It is all about discipline:
- Refine leftover from day before
- Craft ascended stuff
- Mine home instance nodes
- Do Daily
So..whats next? XD
Defeats the point of most time-gates.
its time gated 24 hours to get you to play every day simple tool to ensure players log in to get what they want. time gating is not going to be changed now…..

Neverwinter has a somewhat similar system that rewards players for logging in every day, but it can get quite frustrating. If you just miss one day (work late, family emergency, what have you) all your benefits just hit the tank. Not a fan of that system.

Not sure of the details of “all our benefits hit the tank”, but that’s not the case in GW2. You miss a few materials, don’t get ONE of each of the refinements and don’t get ONE Laurel. Might push your “schedule” by a day, but nothing huge is “lost”.
I get the suggestion is for the convenience of the players (and I would certainly use it if available), but there is also ONE more thing to remember about Anet NEEDING players in the game.
Sans gem cards (that seem to be harder to find these days….Amazon quit selling them) and new game sales, the ONLY way Anet makes RL revenue is in-game gem purchases. The less time ANY player spends actually in the game is less time any player CAN purchase gems. Nobody can deny that the continued success of the game (and the servers staying on for all of us) requires that players BE IN THE GAME. PERIOD.
You can dislike the economic model all you want, but it is what it is.

What you said about the business model. I was only referencing Neverwinter when explaining what I didn’t like about the daily log-in reward system they set up. I do enjoy the system that GW2 has made personally.
Only my first paragraph was directed at your quote….sorry if you thought the rest was directed at you specifically.

The OP says that you have to login in the game to actually increase your quota… i wouldn’t go as easy as that (as it takes only 5 minutes tops), i would ask for the player to end his/her daily quests (5 of them) and as part of the reward of ending them, i would give the player a +1 on their crafting quota (of course, with a cap)…
or so i think c:
PD: you don’t always login to get mats, or you don’t have all that time to do it, aside from, doing dungeons, world bosses, some wvw, monthly, etc

Oh, no problem, no problem. I was just clarifying my opinion.
