Salvaging Crafted exotics
When salvaging “any exotic” Armor or weapon you ony have a chance to recover
1. Material used, ore, silk, Leather
2. 0-5 Glob of Ecto or 0-3 Glob Dark Matter
3. The attached Sigil or Rune.
Nothing else! inscription used to make crafted items are not salvageable.
“Trinket’s are the only thing that give a chance to recover the jewel used to creat the Trinket.” This can be from either Trinkets dropped in the open world or crafted

^ Not entirely true. Exotic Orichalcum inscriptions that cannot be obtained by crafting (such as Soldier’s, Dire or Magi) CAN be salvaged from Exotics (and only Exotics). This was done so that Ascended weapons could be crafted with any stat spread. Exotic inscriptions that are obtainable by crafting cannot be salvaged in this way.
“Because we wanted all stat combos in the game to be represented in Ascended Weapons, we have added new Exotic Inscriptions to the salvage tables on all non-crafted Exotic weapons and to drops where applicable.”
This WAS in the patch notes, but has mysteriously disappeared. I’m curious as to why now.
But judging from that statement, it is uncertain whether or not a CRAFTED dire weapon will have a chance to drop an inscription when salvaged.
I can not confirm or deny whether they are salvageable or not from crafted weapons.
Still unsure.
Second question: I wonder about items that used to be Explorer’s, Traveler’s or Wayfarer’s. If We changed the combo to Dire, and salvage it, would a Dire inscription maybe come out?
I can’t say for certain, but I’m pretty sure that you can’t salvage inscriptions from any crafted item. Most likely those uncraftable inscriptions can only be salvaged from items that were dropped directly as loot from monsters.
Even if they were salvageable from any weapon, the chance of getting it is small.
It is possible to salvage non-craftable inscriptions such as dire, shaman’s, soldiers. It does not work on crafted weapons. I’ve been getting a 60-66% chance of salvaging using a BL salvage kit.
