I have been using the Black Lion 300 gem salvage kit to salvage runes and sigils from armor and weapons, however even though it says it should be 100% effective, occasionally the salvage kit will not work at all on upgraded soulbound armor. Sometimes it works and other times, nothing happens. When this happens, there is no feedback, it just does nothing. The item is unchanged and the kit does not register a reduction of the use count.

Is this normal, a bug, i.e. should I report it when it happens etc.?

Some items are non salvageable, in particular, those items that are obtained from karma vendors. (although there are a few others I’ve seen.)

Yes, I’ve found the same thing with items purchased from karma vendors. The clue to look for is if there is a vendor value at the bottom, you can salvage it. If no vendor value, no salvage.

Thanks for letting me know how to ID them. Kind of puts karma items at a lesser value, since if you upgrade them, you cannot salvage your upgrades. Going to stay away from Karma items now.

Also, when you hover over the item to salvage it, you will see the background of the item go to green if it’s salvageable or red if it’s not.
