September Feature Pack (Crafting UI)
As a part time dungeon runner and someone who loves to use cooking I approve of this update.
I’m pleased, very pleased at the sub component navigation.
Thats a really good change for crafting. Ill say the Feature packs have been more substantial than any LS patch. Much more appreciated of feature packs.
Long overdue and I’m glad they did it.
Now, how about adding some airbreathers to the armor crafts?
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
Very useful update. Much better than trying to remember all the subcomponents of one recipe, especially cooking where you might have to craft several base items before making the final item.
This is a useful UI change for my husband, and myself. I’m glad to see it come out with the patch.
The final line in the blog caught my attention though…
" cool new items we’re adding to each crafting discipline"
Could 500 cooking and jewelcrafting finally be here?

What would ascended level cooking even produce?
Dyes that can only be uncommon or rare when identified? Product placement feasts? (Feast of Pizza Hut pizza. Feast of White Castle sliders. Keg of Mt. Dew) Brewing items?

Ambrosia, nectar of the Gods.
I have no idea what the stats would do, but chances are it would be a standard for all dungeons/Boss Trains/WvWvW in a matter of days.

lol
I haven’t the slightest idea. I’m sure Anet probably asked themselves the same question and then scratched their heads. But, they did say that eventually all the crafting would go to 500, and as far as I am aware that hasn’t changed (although it could, and that’s ok too), so I guess we’ll see.
Yeah it would be hard to do 500 cooking as this would make content easier, the game is already balanced around 400 cooking stats.
Maybe bloodstone dust cookies though…

Actually, that IS an idea…
What if they introduce food that has effects more like what some of the rune sets give you when they’re complete? A chance to proc an effect, for example?
Want a sugar cookie that gives you +25% run speed for an hour, along with stats like you’d find in level 80 food?

I get this image of eating one of those and becoming a Mursaat. Or just terrible indigestion. In any case, SOOO not appetizing! :P

Eat 50 of them, and an hour later you “produce” a bloodstone brick?

Well Did you see the very last sentence? About adding new items to the professions?
But yeah, I’m with the OP. All these changes to the crafting station UI are all good, but please for the love of kitten, please add the craft all button (or let us enter a quantity) to the popup in the mystic forge after we make something. I would love to make a stack of superior siege, but thats just asking to get carpel tunnel with the current method.
Please give us a keyring…

I’m honestly kinda disappointed in this feature pack so far. It doesn’t seem anywhere as meaty as the previous feature pack.
I mean, the things we’re getting are nice, but… They’re not new traits and they’re not the Wardrobe.
Was really hoping they’d improve the way the MF works this update.
Is there still hope?
Awesome, and long overdue. Thank you Anet.
As for ascended food, I want food that summons a (fighting) monster and is usable once a day.
We already know that Candy Corn Elementals exist, now I want Marshmellow Golems and Minty Minotaurs.
For nostalgia reasons, it would be so cool to have potions that are the same as the old Guild Wars 1 potions. I am referring to the ones that turn you into Jora, Ogden, Olias, etc.. Since articifer is already at 500, cooking could possibly do this, maybe with bloodstone dust, dragonite and empyreal fragments as components.
That’s a good suggestion for the Mystic Forge.
I really like these changes to the Crafting UI. It’s going to be so much better now.
Thank you outsourced forum moderator for moving this completely relevant thread to a sub forum with significantly less visibility.
I’ll be blaming you when Anet don’t notice this suggestion and do nothing about the Mystic Forge for another 2 years =/

As they’ve decided that this one is about crafting, I’d suggest making a new one in the main forum that’s limited to the request to change the Mystic Forge UI.
Don’t mention anything about crafting or the crafting UI update. Keep it entirely focused on the MF UI, including in the title.

+1
lol, that sounds like it would hurt.
I would imagine lvl 500 cooking producing food with three effects though slightly less stat-wise than some of the current level 80 counterparts, ie. +90 Power, +60 Precision, +60 Ferocity. Yes please!
*Numbers aren’t exact and would have to be careful in regards to power creep, but I don’t see many other ways to make it worthwhile.
Oooh, I like the idea of triple stat food. We could even update some of the current expensive r400 food (like the Molten Facility recipes and the Dry Top recipes) to r500 ones to account for their more expensive ingredients.
Sadly this only really helps once we are already at 400. the other half in the cooking pain, discovery, is not touched.
Ascended food could just be an unlimited, account bound version of a lv80 food. It’s just the logical next step.
While I appreciate the change (Any improvement is good), can I PLEASE ask the the interface be altered to REMEMBER what crafting sections were collapsed from the last time I used it? Is this so hard to do….really? It seems like a no-brainer for anything I change in the interface to be remembered until I change it again (ok, I get that removing the filters between sessions might be a good idea so new players are not confused).
…..It needs to remember the last settings I used a week ago when I open the crafting interface (and I don’t care if it’s the last time any toon on my account used a crafting table). The main issue is it forgetting these when changing tabs between Discovery or the Bank…..VERY frustrating.
I guess this change will remove some of this frustration, but this seems like a simple thing that should have been thought of while it was being used by QA…..
Fate is just the weight of circumstances
That’s the way that lady luck dances
Crafting Panel needs to have the craftable items recoloured from grey – hard to read and track progress. (Talking about the craftable items that wont award exp)
What would ascended level cooking even produce?
Bacon.
