I’ve recently gotten a hold of a Dawn and I’m looking to sell it but the question is now or later? I’m no good with GW2’s current economic trends :’(

Also are we allowed to trade through forums? I’d rather not use the TP if it can be helped. Every bit of copper is worth more these days.

They’re working on a new way to obtain precursors so they’ll probably decrease price. There is no info about when this will happen though so..selling or not, it’s your call..my personal advise is to monitor forum and patch rumors, the price will go up until an announcement of how the “scavenger hunt” works will be made.
That’s imo, that’s what i would do. I’m not responsible for anything you might do with your dawn^^

Regard selling without the TP i don’t know, there is no direct trade option so it’s all a matter of trust. World is full of troll and people like that, i wouldn’t send them my precursor hoping that they’ll keep their word and send me the money, i’d rather loose a 15% on the TP. 100% of nothing is still not much money..

Agreed with isendel. I’d sell it now. They are adding in other ways to get them so there will be more and prices will drop.
Now if you think demand will outpace supply like if there will be a bunch of new players coming in then maybe hold on.

As the others have suggested, I’d sell the Precursor if it’s not one that you’re intending to get a Legendary with yourself. ANet is working on new ways to get Precursors (Lindsey mentioned a scavenger hunt), and if future one-time event chests also drop Precursors, you can expect to see prices for them continue to slide over time.

Yeah, please don’t try to directly sell it. There’s no way somebody is going to mail you 250g, and sending someone a precursor with no payment is…ludicrous. I would only trust a close real-life friend with something that significant, and I’m a trusting person.

Even if it did go off without a hitch, you’d both be so silly that you wouldn’t deserve it. One of those ‘positive result doesn’t mean the decision was sound’ situations.

The precursors are currently in a bit of a weird spot.

A large number of them were introduced during the recent lost shores event, which plummeted prices.

Most precursors have now gone back up in price slightly since then. But the current trend may not hold, as every fractal chest has a chance to drop a precursor (which, while small, is still happening much more often than the other typically farmed method of mystic forge and/or orr chests)

As someone mentioned there is going to be another way to get them eventually, which has been hinted as a scavenger hunt that lets you pick the precursor. However I do not believe it is that close in coming.

My advice? Check the price of dawn on the trade post, mark it down. Do this at least once a day for a week. If you’re seeing notable gains by the end of 7 days, consider holding onto it. If its dropping, sell it. And if it’s fluctuating seemingly wildly, well, i’d probably sell it.

Also Mankrik, someone today was willing to trust a friend of mine with volcanus (current estimated worth: ~480g) It’s all about finding the right people. o.o

Watch the precursor prices for awhile. I think its still safe to hold one for ~2 months at least. I don’t see them adding the “scavenger hunt” thing for a good while, probably not until they decide to add new legendaries (and make the older ones “obsolete”)

Certain precursors are rising in price more than other (ie dusk) so i think dawn will rise quite a bit as well. The less popular precursors though i think will stay low for at least another few weeks.
