Currently, most minor and major runes are worthless. Players obviously aren’t going to pay much for upgrades useful only in leveling. Now we can of course dump random runes into the Mystic Forge to get a chance of a higher level rune. But it’s completely random. It shouldn’t be.

For example, logically, 4 Minor Runes of Balthazar should transmute into 1 Major Rune of Balthazar. 4 Major Runes of Balthazar should transmute into 1 Superior Rune of Balthazar. 4 Minor Sigils of Bloodlust transmute into 1 Major Sigil of Bloodlust and…you get the idea.

A system like this would be much more intuitive and familiar to new players. It would create demand for lower end runes and sigils.

Just an idea.

It’s not like those minor and major runes are any more useful for experienced players. The difficulty of the game should not come from the players trying to guess how it even works, nor should it be dependent on game systems behaving in inconsistent and erratic ways.

I dunno why either, but I remember JS saying mystic crapper is getting some changes let’s hope.

That has already happened. Now level 80 forges are no longer guaranteed to return a level 80 item.

Are you sure? I’m pretty sure JS made that remark after the most recent Forge changes.

Back on topic a bit more, I really wish they’d bring back the ability to throw random Superior Sigils/Runes into the Forge and get back a random Sup Sigil/Rune. It would go a long way towards normalising prices between the super expensive ones and the ones that are languishing at just 1c above vendor price.

clearly you aren’t away of sigil and rune crafting and how specific it is. for example, if I want a Superior Rune of the Ranger, I walk up to a leatherworker station, throw in 1 Onyx Lodestone + 1 Vicious Fang + 1 Cured Hardened Leather Square, and out pops one Superior Rune of the Ranger. Almost every sigil and rune is craftable. But the few that aren’t are why you are throwing so many majors into the toilet.

I am actually perfectly aware that specific recipes are available for runes and sigils. That wasn’t the point I was raising. My point was that currently minor and major sigils and runes are fairly worthless, and that intuitively, it would make sense if 4 of one tier and type upgraded to the next tier and type.

There are 26 runes that you can craft and 33 that you can’t craft.
Not counting sigils now.

“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

so 40 you can choose to get vs. 26 you have to randomly get. I am pretty sure the MF can’t even give all 26 of those. not sure where you got your numbers, maybe just out of date?
Regardless, I said it because it’s true. If you want a rune of the ranger, you are not going to throw 4 major runes into the forge and hope you get one. Even the non-crafted ones; if you need 6 runes of divinity, you’re going to get them from the TP. The only people who forge runes are those looking to make a profit selling them.

You can not craft “almost all of them”.

So let’s say out of all runes you can only craft about half or them.

I forge runes because I have them (!). They are an otherwise throwaway byproduct of salvaging. I don’t forge because I want something that I can craft obviously. Because of that I would not have to buy 6 divinity runes from the TP, only 3 or 4 if I wanted a set today.

Regardless of all that Jazz, this would not solve the worth of the lower tier runes. It would just shift the pricing within those tiers and make whatever % pretty much vendortrash.

Many players are most likely not like me, hoarding the runes for the day they might feel like using them and are selling them right away – this might also negatively affect that aspect.
