Sinister Stats - Stop For The Sake Of Sanity!
As mentioned in another post (to lazy to look up and link), I think some kind of upgrade should be introduced that allows you to combine sets of armor of the same rarity and have the stats combined be select-able. You would still have to either buy the set or craft it. It would essentially only free up bag space and make switching armor (while ooc) easier. The upgrade could be reward based, craft-able or anything,
I think you should be able to put Ascended equipment into the forge along with ascended inscriptions/insignias to unlock the ability to swap stats on that item.
Definitely think we need some way of ‘upgrading’ ascended armor to let it switch to a new stat. That does bring up the same issue with runes however. Having the ability to somehow add both as an option would be great.
- Anet is providing more options to players.
- They are well aware that more options equate to the desire for new gear.
- They realize this desire will keep players in the game longer (the ultimate goal).
They are running a business so you can’t really blame them (especially when they are ADDING content, not taking it away (like they seem to do occasionally)).
Some convoluted and slightly expensive method to alter Ascended gear stats would not be the worst thing they could add to the game….

If exotic were still the best gear, then new stat combos is a positive feature since you could easily change gear. But once you’ve grinded Ascended, you feel like the OP when a new stat combo comes out. Yet another reason Ascended gear is fail.
Sinister stats are actually pretty useful, though. The only problem, is that the condi mechanic needs to be reworked (Defiant, Cap, etc…)
I have to disagree. Firstly, I’d been waiting for this exact stat combo (been using Rampager’s up to now).
Secondly, for vets, sure this might be a PITA, but how about new players? New stat combos help with the game’s longevity. (FYI, I’m in the we-loathe-the-NPE-update camp, if that helps.)
Yeah when I saw this stat combo I was pretty excited. A condition armor set with 3 offensive stats is something this game definitely lacked since launch. But I have a full set of ascended rabid gear which was made obsolete overnight. A set of armor I spend over a thousand gold on is pretty much useless now. All of the other new stat combinations added since launch have been more niche sets, but this one is the closest condition has to zerker stats, which means its a huge deal. Rabid armor is not the best for pve anymore, since it has useless defensive stats. In wvw, I will still use dire for conditions. Rabid will probably still see use in pvp, but I can just change amulets, I dont need to craft a new set of ascended armor.
Some way of changing stats on ascended armor should be introduced if new stat combinations are going to be a thing. Exotic doesn’t need it so much, its pretty easy to get. Maybe a mystic forge recipesomething like
1x Ascended armor/weapon piece
1x Ascended Insignia/Inscription
50x Mystic Coin
1x Lesser/Vision Crystal
could yield an ascended piece matching the armor/weapon, but with the stats of the insignia/inscription.
Changing stats on ascended wouldn’t be easy like a legendary, it would still require significant investment. Using the above, changing stats on a piece would be in the ballpark of 40g plus dragonite ore/bloodstone dust/empyreal fragments.
It would even ensure that to get the new stats, you have to do the new content and craft the insignia/inscription yourself, if it is one of the account bound on creation ones. I couldn’t just log on today and switch my stats to Sinister – I would still need to acquire the recipe and craft the insignia for each piece I want to change by participating in the new zone.
This might even provide a reasonable incentive to get players to invest in crafting ascended trinkets if 500 jewelcrafting is released. They can use ones they acquired elsewhere in the game and change them into others with gold instead of using up laurels/fractal relics/guild commendations.
I would gladly pay 40g to change the stats on my ascended gear rather than have a 1000+ gold investment rot in my bank or on an alt.

If they don’t exist already as some sort of rare drop (like Ventari recipes were), they’ll probably be introduced before too long.
giving the option to change statss on gear you already have to the new stat combo once would be nice. but limitless changing would be too easy and defeat crafting AH prices.

Well, we’ve just had another set of stats released with Echoes of the Past (Condition Damage, Power, Precision) – great… right…? I’ll admit, there are some characters I’d be tempted to use this gear with; but they’re already kitted out in ascended – one of which I just finished two days ago! New stat combinations are great and I really want to look forward to them, but I can’t if it makes my previous efforts completely worthless.
Could Anet please reconsider how these are added to the game? Either something to make gear more alt/multiple sets/new stats friendly; or hurry up and release legendary armour* so we can be spared from this?
Oh well, mini-rant over. Anyone else got any opinions on the matter?
*It would also be nice if a component for this was ascended armour; as to, once again, not make crafting it a waste of time.
What really burns my biscuit is that not only do you have to get the insignia type thing for the new stats as a drop but you then have to get recipes for each existing armor part instead of using the DISCOVER panel like 90% of crafting does!

Well, the insignia thingy is from a vendor who only accepts map based currency, forcing players to go play the content, rather than just buy the stuff with game gold.
But you know, “play how you want to play…”
sigh butif you have multiple alts it’s not funny when armor comes out then you’ve wanted for so long but said armor feels like it prevents you from moving to making a new set of armor for a new toon.
i’d love a option in the gem store that would swap your ascended armor’s stats. it would help SO MUCH.
