I’ve read a topic about how soulbound items (at least ones bought with karma) can’t be salvaged or sold to vendor. But what about runes inside them? Are we forced to loose runes just because its a karma item? If so this should really be fixed and implement a new tool similar to salvage kit which only removes runes!!

Confirming that you currently lose the runes you place into karma bought items.

i’m pretty sure you can’t salvage karma-purchased soulbound gear… i just save them and throw ’em into the mystic forge once in a while.

The reason why Karma items can’t be salvaged is because people could stockpile the cheapest karma weapon and such, salvage it, and sell the materials to make a money return on it, and they are trying to prevent Karma from having a direct trade value to coin.

I do agree that they should make a new salvage kit for runes only, but at the same time, this could simply be solved if they made all karma equipment not drop materials unless they were transmuted for skins. This way you’d be able to save your runes, and they wouldn’t have to make another in-game item for a small number of specific cases.

I believe its just karma-bought items that are like this — crafted or loot-dropped soulbound items can still be salvaged.

You could initially salvage the karma items, but people with karma coming out their ears were just buying the items in bulk to salvage them down into runes and materials to sell, which wasn’t the intent.

The only way I can see to move a rune on a karma item over to a new set is through…

Transmutation stones. Use a stone and take the the old karma armor and the new armor you want the rune onto. Pick the skin you want the most which I assume is the new armor since you were going to salvage the old armor. Pick the stats again on the new armor (since again you were going to salvage the old armor). Then chose the rune from the old set and move it over.

That should fix the issue.
