A couple weeks ago my necromancer (light armor character) which is my armorsmith crafted 2 pieces of ascended heavy armour and I stupidly decided to complete the package to my warrior by applying the superior runes to both pieces.

Well… this left me with 2 heavy armor ascended pieces soulbound to my necromancer which he will never be able to use , that he cannot throw in the mystic forge or even salvage.

Yes I know it is my fault. Yes I know it says when applying the runes it will soulbound the item to you.

The thing is I made a very costly crafting and a stupid mistake and have no way to even get anything from it. It is probably my ignorance but i also dont get WHY is that we get an item soulbound just by adding a rune or sigil to it without even using it. There is no way to revert the soulbinding as far as I know.

So my question is why cant we even salvage the ascended item and get back at the least part of the “non-ascended” materials use on it?

Would be nice if whomever looks over these things takes this situations into consideration.

Cheers.

Yes — well, not extractor, but transmutation splitter (not sure about extractor, I don’t have one but I don’t think it’d work here — you want to split the transmutation, not extract an upgrade). You can also transmute to blue.

(It’s embarrassing, but I know because I crafted a duplicate ascended armor piece, and then equipped it. The armor is expensive enough that it seemed worth transmute + transmute splitter, given that I do have another char who can use it …)
