Thoughts on if it is legit?

The question is what is legit?
Anet is working on pre cursor crafting and this looks like a decent recipe for it. Apart from the Mirror of courage, which looks like RNG to me, if there arent specific recipes for different pre cursors.

This is a work in progress and i doubt that the final recipe or the way to aquire the 4 ingredients will exactly look like this.

I realize that this is probably not the final recipe, but do you think that this is roughly what we are going to see implemented? This was spoiled before Ascended Weapons were shown to need Vision Crystals, so that makes me think that this is about what we can expect when precursor crafting happens. Also, having the player craft a token to exchange for a precursor instead of needing of bunch of new recipes seems like a smart move.

I think a token system would be a good move, but I’m hoping that the tokens and/or precursors themselves remain tradable.

Looking at the list, I think having options for each ingredient would be a very smart thing for ANet to do, so that people who play the game in different ways could take advantage of the ingredients that most closely reflect their personal play style.

This was on the forums weeks ago already. The fonts are wrong for one.
The first post was locked and said to be faked, I would expect this one to be as well.

Well, there’s one thing that makes this more believable than mnay other theories around here: It does require many things, but not gold. Imagine precursor crafting requiring lots of ascended and t6 materials. The end result would be the same as today, with you spending 100s of gold on your pre.

So I think that, when the crafting is implemented, it will definitely look something like what OP posted.

I’m not saying one way or another, but when was the last time a company of any kind had stuff leaked and they came out and admitted that it was true?

I’ll make it easy on you. It doesn’t happen. “They” always deny it and, more often than not, it’s real.

I am usually the last person to spot a fake image but there is something about that picture that seems a bit off.

It looks like someone took a picture of their monitor rather than a screenshot. Seems a bit odd that the text information is still aligned to the tilt but maybe the person is a bit obsessive about that sort of thing. The other issue is, where is the cursor? I just checked in game and the left edge of the cursor is aligned with the item tooltip so it should be fully visible. The game does hide the cursor when taking a screenshot but the lighting looks wrong for a screenshot and it shouldn’t be tilted.

The thing that turns me off about this is the “personal story end reward”

Do they expect some of us to go back and create a new character to play through the entire personal story on when it is most likely that players will be crafting a precursor for their current main? Am I misunderstanding/misinformed?

If they would introduce an extra reward for personal story chain completion, they would reward it retroactively just like they have done with wvw lvl chests or the AP Rewards.

Or they just add another Story Mission that can only be done after the original story missions are completed, awarding the personal story end award.

They’ve already retroactively given stuff for the personal story before when the pact weapon token was added. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to do it again if they go that route.

Another approach is how it was done in GW1. You simply run the last step again and get it at the end of that. This would be an okay approach if they also fix the Zhaitan fight as the same time.

That’s the one route I think the developers should go. As is, Personal Story is the only aspect of the game in which players wishing to craft their own Legendary must demonstrate dedication. As to your specific concern, I see no reason a token cannot be awarded after the fact.

Not at all. I spent like 50g on weaponsmith from 400 to 500. Weaponsmith from 1 to 400 is cheap.

You’re forgetting all the mats you used that were in your bank. That you could’ve sold on the TP if you didn’t use them for crafting. That’s all gold that you crafted away, even though you gathered it on your own.

Actually I had to buy almost all T6 mats. I had only gatherable mats from nodes.
If you meant 400 to 500. 1 to 400 may be true.

T6 fine mats is the cheap part. Ancient wood/ori is where the problem lies, because you are going to go through them like water. And if you get 450-470 through refinement, then the t2-5 wood and metal is not really that cheap as well nowadays.

The personal story competition sounds like a great idea (would actually give me a reason to finish the game).

Needing all crafting at 400 (or 500?) seems a bit of overkill.

I only spent about 120 gold. That’s hardly the same level as buying a precursor. If I had more mats saved up (instead of selling them in the past) it would’ve cost me even less.

Yes, on the one hand, I want to say: “Yay for multiple alts at level 80!”

But, on the other hand, all I do, now, is gather. Even though ore and ancient wood drop more often as actual loot and are more frequently salvaged. I’m still gathering for most of my playtime to get all 3 weapon crafting disciplines to 500 and make ascended weapons for at least 2 of my 80s.
