Hello

One of my char is tailor and has reached level 149. Since then, I cannot craft further because all items are either white (no more points) or red (require 150). I am stuck on the crafting side.

On the Discovery side, it is not better. I put items from left side into the slots right side, and it tells me that I have or more unknown recipe for the selected items, but the “craft” button remains grey (for example: Bolt of wool with bone shard). So it does not work to get a new recipe. I am stuck there too.

Therefore my question and sorry if it is a stupid one: How am I suppose to get the points I need to go from 149 to 150 if neither the discovery nor the crafting works? It is clear to me that I am missing something go on, but I am not able to find out what and I would be real glad for help.

Thank you

Pick an orange item you already know and craft it again (not discover, craft).

Although you should be able to discover your way to 400 without a problem. Did you “discover” six pieces of every insignia that became available at level 125?

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

The best way to level up to 150 is find an insignia/armor piece combo that you haven’t crafted yet, by going through the main crafting list, craft the insignia and 2 sub components for that armor piece, then use discovery to craft that item and you will go over 150. Or, you can skip discovery by buying a karma recipe from the Tailor master that requires minimum Tailor 125, and craft the item that the recipe unlocks (make sure you have the necessary components for it beforehand by checking the wiki, since these karma recipes craft rare items and need more components than the normal discovered recipes).

ETA: Here is a link for one of the recipes you can buy with karma: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Recipe:_Ravaging_Intricate_Wool_Insignia

You can try to use this crafting guide also in the future and for a hint how to progress now.

Given the fact that those two items make a recipe and that you need 3 shards for this recipe, I think you’re lacking one or two bone shards for your recipe to work. Try find enough to have three in total (or buy off the TP).

Dear All

Thank you very much for the support!

Now I know what information I was missing: I had not understood properly all the type of items that can be discovered. Thankfully, I was able to see that clearly at site indicated by Astral Projections. This link is really a very helpful one.

I am now happily discovering all what I am missing and expect to be soon at 150.

Bye

Generally speaking, you will need to discover approximately 2.25 of each regular upgrade (insignia/inscription) to move to the Masterwork tier of said upgrade.

For example, if there are 7 upgrades in Huntman, you will need to discover 7 different kinds of warhorns, 7 different kinds of torches, and 2 different kinds of pistols to move from 100 to 150 at which point the masterwork upgrades become available and can be used to go from 150 to 200.
