As many of you know, the meta event required to make available the Temple of Balthazar vendor has become bugged on many servers, making it impossible to access this vendor and purchase karma sets or obsidian shards, a necessary ingredient for legendary crafting.

Would it be possible to temporarily make a new vendor, perhaps in LA, that sells the items normally provided at the Temple of Balthazar until the meta event is fixed?

Temple of Balthazar is also bugged on Tarnished Coast, preventing me from buying Obsidian Shards.

So +1 to having an alternate vendor.

Balthazar bugged on every server. -_-

I agree would be nice with a fix for this asap.

SBI opened Temple around 2AM CST last night. As of this morning the temple is closed. I did not check whether it has bugged out.

how many need people to kill boss? 1shot and all are dead…

Sometimes I wonder what causes it to be bugged? From a technical standpoint. what in the scripting of the game is bugging it?

Orr really seems like a scripting/programming hell due to all the meta events. I wonder what conflicts with Balthazar?

hmm strange how this has been going on for so long. i’m not at that point where i can freely wildly spend my karma yet. but this problem has been around since day 1? haven’t been following the issue too closely.. have there been any official statements?

i can see the original logic behind it, to have a vendor that you have to follow through an event to reach for some of the “best stuff” in the game (armor, legendary components..) but to have it bugged just doesn’t seem.. not sure what the word is.. but yea, that.

i totally agree with this, until Anet can manage to fix this properly, an alternate vendor should be available somewhere else, may it be another place in the Orr zones or in a hub, just make it possible to get the items he’s selling one way or another..

They probably don’t want to be fixing it at the moment, as when the temple is under player control, air elementals (sometimes referred to as sparks) spawn around the place. Sparks can drop charged lodestones. A-net are trying to kill the economy at the moment and bring the rich players down with the rest of the community by getting them to fork out big amounts of money for exotics and legendaries.
By keeping the temple contested, they keep the price of charged lodestones high, because supply remains low. The latest Halloween patch recipes (gift for the shield i think) needs 100 charged lodestones…

Still catching bugs for this event to get the vendor to open… really… I’d love to have a new vendor else where, this is a bit ridiculous. Had to reset the north escort because he wouldn’t move halfway through the escort, by pulling a champion giant and letting it kill him to reset the chain completely.

Seriously, i only need 113 shards for my legendary. I got everything, every gifts, 77 clovers, only these kitten shards left. I check on my map everyday and Balthazar always contested. It’s been a week now.

I know we can buy the shards at Fractal of the Mist vendor. 113 shards x 15 fractal tokens = 1695 fractal tokens > i don’t really like farming 1695 tokens just for the shards which can be bought from that super bugged temple of balthazar and i got plenty of karma left to buy those shards.

I will switch servers if necessary but it would be much better if ANet just moved the NPC to LA (or somewhere else) until they finally fix their god kitten bugging events.

This should probably be in the dynamic events forum, or even the suggestions, but this is something I agree with. I don’t want them to just make the shards available in LA, but I really do hope they expedite this bug fix.

My suggestion: I stockpiled karma so I only needed 2 trips, minimizing the hassle of Balthazar. Trip #1, make sure you have ~600-650k karma and buy 250-300 shards. This (all but) guarantees your 77 clovers (barring extreme variance).

Trip #2, you’ll have leftover shards most likely, and just get enough karma to get the rest in one trip.

The best time to look for Balthazar clearances is right after a new build. Get your guild, advertise in Cursed Shore, advertise in Lion’s Arch. A group of 20 was able to take him down, although it was down to the last 20 seconds. The other time, I was not there for the kill.

This is what I did, and it seems like common sense, but I see people buying the shards 100k karma at a time, ALL THE TIME, which is unnecessarily stressful, because now you need 9+ balthazar clearances to finish your ~500 shards.

I would suggest that obsidian shards be make avail for sale from miyani – the legendary rep/skill point merchant. It’s not practical to clear and wait for balthzhar vendor to spawn since after the introducing of fotm and karma CS farm, straits seems to be deserted.

It’s already make available on fotm token merchant, I see no reason why it can’t be suggested to be make purchasable from a general npc in town which lower levels would highly benefit since they don’t have to brave their way in – into the deepest strait.

Would anyone agree with me?
