I know I know…
It’s been said many times, and The Minstrel is not the only legendary that need a new effect … but I’d like to know from an ArenaNet guys if there is at least a restyling program for the legendary focus.
Even in the long term, but at least one signal, one answer.
I love the Minstrel skin, especially with the mesmer, but it is objectively without effects.
But why? Could at least leave a trail of musical notes (the trident of the mesmer has that effect), or even feathers.
I would like to receive a response from ArenaNet. thanks for your attention, and sorry for my english (which is clearly not perfect)

Minstrels a lovely weapon, being a mesmer with the recent “nerf” to temporal curtains and the phantasms being finally fixed, bit of a sour position with my one.

I plan on going for it next simply because it’s the most underwhelming Legendary. I would welcome some added effects or a complete redesign, though. I’m surprised it wasn’t part of the first batch of Legendary reworks.

another patch and no news for the minstrel. Plus I noticed that the sound effect is buggy, as well as the effect (yet ridiculous) of musical notes floating, sometimes even appear. I have already sent detailed ticket … let’s see whether they will respond

I knew what I was getting into the The Minstrel, but it was the precursor that dropped for me, so I went for it. I really think the skin is awesome, but the effects need to be overhauled. I know this has been brought up, and the reply is “they are working on it”, but it’s important to continue advocating for yourself, which I am doing. Please give this guy some love. You guys gave lots of love to all sorts of BLC/gem store/living story items, and that’s great, and the Minstrel should have a place in those plans as well. Please help some mesmers out

I completely agree with the above poster. Furthermore I think footfall effects would be a wonderful step towards making this legendary weapon feel like a legendary. If the warhorn can get footfall effects being an offhand weapon I don’t see why The Minstrel couldn’t get them as well. Other than the lack of visuals I love The Minstrel and have in fact based the whole color scheme of my armor around its beauty as seen below.

Crafted this today, i don’t mind the special effects but the regularity of them is what bothers me, at times you can’t even tell that the effects are even working, especially in the Shiverpeak areas.

I would love to see some work done on The Minstrel, even if it is just improving the size and duration of the effects it already has.

How did you guys get all of your crystalline dusts? I want to go for The Minstrel, but the T6 mats are holding me back. Did you guys just run CoF path 1 and buy everything?

So glad to see this post. Put one in myself similar to yours after making the Minstrel for my Necro. Got no response. I like the skin for the Minstrel but was blown away by the lack of effects from it. Occasionally when I switch to the weapon I hear what faintly sounds like a rubber band twanging – yeah that’s just what a harp should sound like – not! As for the musical notes, they are glitched most of the time and I rarely see even a fleeting view of them. What a disappointment.

Did not know that another offhand has footsteps. If weapons all take the same long arduous time to make then some weapons should not have everything to make them special and other weapons basically have nothing.

The real problem is that noone at Anet gives a hoot about this problem and noone there will read this thread so noone there will have to do anything to fix it. I am afraid that for those of us that have made this weapon, we are just out of luck. But we will get new skins that are 10 times more interesting than our poor little legendaries. What a shame.

To answer dust question, when you make your lucky clovers get a lot of other t6 mats in the process, so do that early on in the process. ALso, take lower level mats, sell them & buy what you need. Sell everything that is not needed, salvage all drops from lvl 70 up. Use all your laurels to buy t6 mats. Takes months.

Thanks for the advice. I am a fairly “casual” player time-wise. I don’t spend hours a day in game because I just can’t. I already have my clovers and only have about 50 of each T6 mat.

I actually used 10 of my ectos yesterday to try the X10 clover recipe (hoping for a fail), and got … 10 clovers.. so now I have 87 clovers, and am down 10 ectos and obby shards. I already have my gift of mastery, but I don’t know if this is a wise way to go about getting the mats or if I should just save the money from the ectos I would be using in the recipe and just buy the mats I need.

Any suggestion on that end? It will probably take me a year at my rate (since I don’t CoF grind) to get all the mats. And I thought I was making progress by getting the precursor AND the gift of mastery… but soo many mats, lol.

I heard the effects are somewhat underwhelming, but I honestly do expect them to fix it sometime in the future. At their own convenience. There ARE bigger issues than legendary particle effects, but I’m sure they’ll get to it.

My big question is what will come first? The easier precursor method/scavenger hunt or the particle fix.

If it is fixed before the “hunt,” I expect the precursor to soar in price as right now it is only 44 gold, which is quite cheap comparatively.

Anet +100 reworks war horn, mace etc. .. but spend the focus… is unfair

It’s an orange harp with a weird greenish-gold trim, a blue feather, and pink and yellow music notes. I love the model, but it doesn’t even match itself. Obviously a new effect would be nice, but with this color scheme, it’s kind of an eyesore.

What about black and silver? Or… well, literally anything other than what it is right now.

I ran Cof at least twice daily, sold anything that wasn’t a T6 mat and ran the JP in Malchor’s leap that has all the smuggler’s loot in it (drops the odd T6 mat). With all of this i got Mintrel within 2 months, but much of the pre work had been done by general play since launch.

I don’t mind the model at all, especially with the character i equipped it with. If Anet are to update the effects of the Minstrel it’d be great, especially as it seems to the legendary most people have a problem with.

In any case, it’d be good to get some message from Anet that this is at least in their thoughts for the future. I don’t mind waiting at all, i knew what i was getting into when i did the work to get The Minstrel but any sort of response would be greatly appreciated.

A trail of floating musical notes would be nice

I get the feeling though that Anet wont change this, as they will have too many people moaning about changing other legendary effects. I see them moving onto a new set of legendary weapons and leaving the old set as they are

They are probably waiting on a full patch for new effects for ALL legendaries with the addition of new legendaries. That is the patch to look out for, Anet did say they will be touching up effects while adding new legendaries.

It has a musical note trail, but I still think it needs more…. perhaps some footstep effects. Honestly with all these playable musical new instruments coming out. It should be playable out of combat. I wish Arena Net would give it just something a bit more for it.

I just wish it had some footsteps, so there is at least some effect while stowed away. Other then that it is good enough as it is. I believe shield and focus are the only ones without a footsteps, makes me wonder why.

Funny part was I also listed the ability to “play the minstrel” as a great feature. I think that alone would trump footprints or any other legendary effect.

I bought The Bard on the TP for 60gp (no joke) — this was only one month ago. Think of the value increase if The Minstrel was also a playable instrument. Totally cool.

I just made mine last week or so, could be more flashy but the trail of musical notes is awesome

It would be cool if every legendary have a footstep or footfall, IT look good when you sand there still but when you run you can see a little bit of music note just coming out, I know it look good on Mesmer but when you use this skill Temporal Curtain you can see a little amount of music note coming out because the faster you go the harder you can see. But Arenanet did a very wonderful job on this legendary. But pls anet plz add more effect to this legendary. Thank for reading anet and player, I love U anet

They updated it but it is still far from be nice as the other legendaries. You should have some footstep or at least a big aurea and more effect trail notes

I understand that offhands legendaries tend to be more modest on the effect because it might be too overwhelming when combine with the main hand (the flashy bolt for example). Having said that, it’s still true enough that the focus is just lame even after the update. if they are not willing to step it up, at least lower the cost to make offhand legendaries.
