It’ll cost me 7.4G to purchase 100 Wool Bolts…Whaaaa?!

Jeez, man..That probably won’t even get me to 150 Tailor..
What’s with the crazy high prices, and how would I go around getting a half decent supply myself?

Like, say if I used a salvage kit, I assume I’d have to use a fine kit, but what equipment would I be more likely to get wool from? Which lvl area would I need to be fighting in?

Can someone give me a little run down on the info I’d need, or link me to an already existent guide, coz 7G’s gonna be my whole coin purse..

Why do you need to level a crafting discipline anyway? You can buy armor really cheaply on the TV (buy greens every 10 levels then buy exotics when you are at lv80, a full exotic set shouldn’t cost more than 8-10gold)

It’s just something which I enjoy. I know it takes 1,000,000,000 times more gold than just buying the most usable items you can, but I dunno, there’s something therapeutic about crafting your own things, if you ask me.

Heh, I get your point as I have all disciplines to 500 but only crafted 2 ascended weapons so far (one staff and one dagger) and no armor.
Anyway, since the ascended armor patch prices have skyrocketed. There is no way to keep up if you’re not into it… My suggestion would be to wait and let your resources stock up. Levelling another character in a legit way (that is, no power Levelling through crafting or champ training) might help a lot.

Cloth is being salvaged from light armor and the salvage kit doesnt influence the amount of cloth you get.

Just check the level of the equipment you can craft with wool and go for those level maps and mobs. Also, 2 salvage items drop wool:

Someone made a decision that wasn’t thought out. Obviously when a t2 mat costs>2x the corresponding t6 and the t4 costs >5.5x as much as the t6 something is amiss. Will we ever hear anything about it? Probably not, it’s very hard for ppl to admit mistakes and we will most times do anything to avoid doing so even it it effects other ppl.

I pretty much think this is working as intended to give new players, who lvl their first toon, a chance to earn gold through regular gameplay at a rate that is closer to end game gold farming.

You need to level crafting discipline to 400 to craft material needed for legendary weapons.

They cost so much because they are “not-farmable” at the moment.

Well you can always make a lvl 20~30 character and use it to kill pirates in gendarran fields… For people that like to farm their own materials like me its kinda impossible to get wool or mid tier cloths. All this because the downscale system.. (that i actually like).

My sugestion would be to increase the direct drop rate of wool scraps from bags and even monsters of that level. Or simply deactivate the downscale system on drops (big change, but better balance).

If that is truly the reason, it is a poor one. It doesn’t take that long to level a toon to 80 and you don’t need to earn gold at a high rate when at that stage of the game. Plus the fact that you shouldn’t gain gold at the same rate as end game content especially considering the end game stuff is meant to be much harder which, in turn, should reward you more.

I think its way more challenging to do a map completion on level on your own than running the champ train with a lvl 80.

Champ trains are not end game content. They are a byproduct of the introduction of champ bags.

Also, I thought about what you said a little more and I do agree to a point. What they did with metal was good because it was farmable. Doing the same thing with fabric was poorly thought out. I don’t believe for a second they ever meant linen to get over 8 silver.

40 scraps of linen are farmed incredicly fast when you know which mobs drop the right bags/garments/rags.

I think you know what I mean in the differences between farming metal and farming cloth. Everyone knows where the nodes are, most players don’t know where to farm linen and I think that the price on the TP reflects that.

Exactly, so the price of Linen can be accounted to lazy players who rather run the champ train and pay inflated prices on the tp to players who farm it in the appropriate maps.

It’s not necessarily laziness. Many players probably have no idea where to get 40 loot bags “incredibly fast”. Most 80’s never play on the low level maps. Even then, loot bags drop lots of different mats and not just linen so it’s not like it’s something you can actually just farm for reasonably like a mining node.
