These Empyrial Fragments...
I think it’s matter of playstyle. I, for example, have tons of dragonite ore (and bloodstone of course) but lack empyreal fragments. What makes me worried more is empty space in bank reserved for Crystalline Ore and Ingot. Just wondering if it will be needed for crafting armor…
Of course player style differ from what sort of overloaded materials a player have. If you noticed how one champion box now only give 2-9 dust from what it used to be like 11-20 which toned it down. As well for toxic recipe that burns 100 blood dust and now their also available for making of ascended backpiece if you don’t like doing Fractal of The Mist. But yeah I just wish they address other aspect of these ascended materials then just blood dust.
I wish you could send them to me… I have enough dust and ore to make 10 sets of armor and not enough stars to even make a single piece…
I’ve been saving them in order to speed up the leveling process for the unholy ascended armor grind.

Hopefully that means additional uses for them and not ‘ascended armor will require ridiculous amounts’.
Lately a-net have addressed the overload of blood dust. I think it was a well done implanted and made a happy environment for everyone.
Not quite, because soon the source of toxic spores will run out. And the recipes require it in addition to bloodstone dust.

The spores will still have a heavy surplus in the Black Lion. Limited time crafting materials from Wintersday, Dragon Bash, and Halloween always seem available. The exception to this is Azurite which was available only in the Molten Facility and that was around for a much shorter period of time than the spore samples have been.
I think the materials will be available and affordable for some time.
I think ANet should introduce MF recipes that convert a stack of one Ascended type to 50 of another. It would allow players that have a shortfall of one ingredient, but an excess of another, to obtain the material they need without necessarily needing to do content they dislike.

Like the Halloween stuff?
Although those convert at a lost instead of 1:1.
Yeah, the 250 → 50 was intentional, since unlike the Halloween ingredients, supply for Ascended mats is constant all year long.
I think removing the account bound flag would be a step in the right direction. Let us trade and vendor them.
They should also reduce the droprates on Bloodstone and Empyreal Fragments. These materials seem to be overflowing my inventory unless I use up all of my karma. At least I hope I will need lots of them to craft ascended armor.

I am guessing the Spore nodes will continue to be present in open world zones even after the Toxic content is removed from Kessex Hills.

They already greatly reduced the Bloostone Dust amounts in a patch a few weeks back (but not before I had a dozen stacks of the stuff in my bank).

It’s largely a playstyle issue. Personally, I have tons of bloodstone dust and plenty of dragonite ores, but I struggle to get empyreal fragments because I don’t enjoy dungeons. I think that adding new recipes for ascended mats (like they did with bloodstone dust) is a great idea, and one the I expect ANet will implement in the future.
So maybe hang on to them for a while. You might wish that you had, later on.
There are 6 chests that are easy to get to in Queensdale that give you fragments each time and add up very quickly. There are some vids out there about the Queensdale chest run like this one:
It takes about 7 minutes to do for each of your characters each day.

That’s cool. I knew about the 3 chests in the jp, but not the other 4 chests. ~20 Empyreal Fragments +random loot is a good payoff for not a lot of time.
Thanks for the pro-tip.
