Tower of Nightmares recipes ... excited?

I wasn’t too impressed. Maybe someone can find a use for them in a niche build.
… condi duration + condi damage is “niche”?

It’ll be a bit situational.
If you’re using any exotic Condition Damage Major gear, it will give less +Condition Damage than a Master Tuning Crystal (since every condition damage-major set has Vitality or Toughness bonuses).
Also, +Condition Duration doesn’t stack above 100% (after offsetting by -Condition Duration), so a condition-heavy build may not need the extra.
It might allow a condition build to reallocate some upgrades or trait points while keeping the same total +Condition Duration, but, again, that’s pretty situational.
I like the new consumables and the new sigil (the new AOE torment). This could most definitely be very useful on a necro or glamour/condi mesmer in wvw, The runes, kinda meh …. There are far better ones already available for the purpose.

I stated it would be for niche builds because while condition duration is great, you’re sacrificing a lot of damage. So if you were using these, you’d likely be using them for a specific purpose rather than in a normal condition build.
If you want to see what I’m getting at, test your damage with Undead runes then compare it using the Nightmare runes. The on top of that, consider how often your conditions get cleansed before they’ve reached their full duration.

Very few skills in the game wipe all conditions at once, so if you are extending your duration of all conditions you have access to, you are providing better cover for your “key” conditions, bleeds, burning, or torment, for instance.

I was referring to when you’re in groups against players. In WvW, 85% of players just zerg and use the condition duration reduction food. They also throw out a ton of condition removal so you’ll likely get a tick or two before its cleansed. Things may be different in a 1v1 scenario but you’ll only encounter those a small percentage of the time as most people run in zergs or groups.
Now against NPC’s, I can see the runes being useful as they never cleanse conditions.
All of the new recipes are great for WvW.

I am using this sigil in WvW at the moment, as well as the toxic crystal (imho the only ones worth crafting), and I am sitting at +100% condition duration, and about 1300 condition damage.
I can apply ~7 conditions at 1500 range and even targets with -duration food will still receive over 100% duration. With reapplication every 8-15 seconds for the slowest of the cool downs. The fastest are almost instant depending on the grenade flight time.
6+ conditions AoE requires more cleansing than most wvw players have access to, even in a mid-sized zerg. The funniest thing is when someone with confusion and poison uses their heal skill.

Thanks for offering perspective. I don’t really run condi builds (working on a baby necro, but only very slowly) so I lack experience with how to build one properly.

Necros will love this, just keep spamming the bloody things ’til your opponent runs out of condi removal. Horrible idea tbh. /sadface.
