Trading The Legend for Dusk
Good luck, i hope you find someone who is not shady to deal with.
I think one of the aspects why the other guy trusted me, was because of my fast screenshot in the forum, with a picture of my inventory+bank. It showed that I’ve played my character a lot. And It’s not a fake account for scamming.
And keep in mind, that you can always say no
good luck
Actually i have to agree with you. When i saw your screenshot and the stuff in your bank, i first thought you’re either one kitten rich kitten, or a bot xD But still, that gave somewhat of a guarantee compared to a lvl 10 guy that wants to trade ^^
I do not own the same numbers as you, and this is my 4th character, but still, i came with the screenshot first! I did my job ^^
Hopefully someone will be nice enough to go along.
You know. Trading is profitable
Come on, nobody interested? Selling and buying from BLT = a bigger loss due to taxes.
You can’t even afford to sell a precursor and buy another due to taxes.
It’s a bit sad, but again, anyone rational (from a theoretical point of view) will never take part in such a trade, because it’s always better for both parties to scam (as long as there is no viable punishment). You’d either need to find a way to punish the scamming player (like a ban) or repeat the transaction multiple times (the profit from future trades would have to be higher than the profit you get from scamming/deviating).
I could act as a middleman. I have proven my trustworthy with the Dusk vs. Dawn trade (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/Trading-Dawn-for-Dusk/first#post516918).
While trust issues definitely play a part, I doubt it’s the sole reason why people aren’t lining up for this offer. The other related topic had two players each take a leap of faith and things turned out alright.
I think it more has to do with the fact that you’re trading a staff for greatsword. Owners of dusk or dawn are probably warriors or guardians mainly. Mesmer and Guardians being the only classes that can eventually wield bifrost or the greatswords. This means potential people to trade with are limited to mesmer, guardians or people completely switching their mains.
Dawn > Dusk was more simple as anyone who wanted a greatsword legendary but wasn’t 100% on which of the two to get would be willing to trade.
Nevertheless, GL.
I can fully understand your point, and you are right, but for example i was aiming for Dusk, yet in the hundreds of rares i used, i also used Staves, maces, swords, shields, hammers, if i got them at a right price. Because lets face it, if i get another precursor, i dont mind some profit. Thanks for the wishes.
Also, Samu, i am up for the middleman part you suggested, and thanks for offering. Now just to see if anyone is up for it xD
P.S: I can not really afford to sell it on the Trading Post, and if i somehow manage to, it’s too big of a loss. I belive anyone else in this sittuation can relate and agree. Ergo, a trade is much better!
I’d love to be a middleman in one of these trades both a) to help people actually complete an honest trade and b) apply the condition that I get to see the two involved complete their legendaries. My broke kitten is quite a way off from crafting/attaining any of those.
In any case, I wish you the best in finding a trade partner!
If you are looking for someone to trade. Make sure add them as friend first and looking their achievement points can tell you how much they play the game. Tell them to post a screenshot with current time. <—- THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!
If they post the screenshot right away you can comfirm they are not photoshop stuff. With the fourms on lid it is very unlikely you will get scammed but there are still risks.
I would say if you are making a trade you will probably sent the item first. (I know it is scary but in order to let the other guy trust you that you are not scamming him).
take a screenshot of your item sent and when you recieve the item take another screenshot. It will probably slove it this way better.
I am the last guy traded with sammo for his dusk and I only need 35k more karma until my twilight P.S. thanks sammo
Well, that’s my advice good luck bro!
Good luck, heard some people trading it. They had some luck, same to you!
It’s a bit sad, but again, anyone rational (from a theoretical point of view) will never take part in such a trade, because it’s always better for both parties to scam (as long as there is no viable punishment). While the game theory/prisoner’s dilemma as Kathias mentioned is what any economics textbook would say a “rational” person would do, it is not always the case.
There are two types of people in this world:
1) Kittens/scammers
2) Nice people
Not everyone wants to scam…some people just want to have fun in a game and isn’t a sadistic prick.
Hope you get what you want OP, you need to be patient with this. Fiat money was made to eliminate double coincidence of wants, but I guess you want to save some money ^^
Honestly I would NEVER trade that way with someone I don’t know, just asking to be scammed, and not worth the risk.
I just still can’t believe there is no trading system in this game, unbelievable imo.
Indeed, it would be great if they would implement some sort of Cash On Delivery system at least if not a proper trading system.
But since they don’t seem to intend anything alike anytime soon, it’s best people don’t consider trading via Forums as a viable option (though it seems to happen sometimes)
And since The Legend prices started dropping for some reason, i sold it (losing 55 gold…) and going to either invest in trying to get Dusk or just buy it from BLT.
Thanks for your support nonetheless!
