I’m sitting on like 80 of these basic transmutation stones. So I figured I’d finally use one A) because I like the Kryta Greatsword skin more than the Bronze Generic Greatsword skin and
B) because I’ve never used one

Well call my educated kitten stupid because what happens when I double click the stone is total confusion. I get a window where I can place 2 items. Well then what? How do I know which skin I’m keeping or which “attributes” are going where and vice verse? There is no tutorial anywhere that I can find and I don’t want to end up with the lame Krtya stats on my Bronze skin! I want the Bronze stats on the Kryta skin. Can someone please explain in as much detail as possible what I’m supposed to do with this window that pops up?!

Click on stone, the two window paine appears…
Insert an item into the window on the left and 1 on the right, the order doesn’t matter.
It will appear with the icon of the gear at the top, the stats in the middle and any signets/runes on teh gear at the bottom.
You chose the icon for the cosmetic, the stats for the stats you want, and which ever rune you decide you want to keep.
It works the same way with the basic and the lvl 80 stones

How does one know what’s allowed to be changed with a transmutation stone?

My level 14 Necromancer has two masks, one of which I really like the look of on him and the other, although better stats-wise is very “meh” looking. I wanted to combine the two, but its not allowing me to do that. Do the stones only work on crafted items?

Your items have to be in your inventory, you will just need to unequip it first, then transmute it and equip the new one. Also, basic only works on items of level 1-79, you will need fine transmutation stones for items that are 80, even if one of them are.

Why not practice with some basic stones on loot? There is no shortage of basic stones lol.
