By level 80, there are 12 stat nomenclatures according to the game’s wiki. Of those 12 stat combo sets, only 7 are craftable. My main issue with this is the lack of flexibility I have in trying to obtain specific armor with stats that cannot be crafted.

For example, were I to have to the gold and desire for exotic knight gear (power/precision/toughness), I could easily buy what I want and be done with it. However, if I wanted exotic magi gear (precision/healing/vitality), I would have to either grind out karma or run TA or HotW long enough to accumulate 1000+ tokens, and I don’t even like the appearances of those dungeon armors considering the lengths I would have to go to obtain them.

Of 12 varied stat sets, why are only 7 able to be crafted and traded?

this is why trasmutation exists, find the set with stats u want and transmute the appearance of the visual set you and tah duh, u have that u want

This isn’t about appearances, this is about being able to obtain gear with stats one desires. I’m saying if I need exotic-level power/precision/toughness, I can just buy it, but if I want exotic level precision/healing/vitality, I’d have to farm 1000+ tokens in a dungeon.

If I have the money I can easily obtain power/precision/toughness, but for precision/healing/vitality, I am forced to sink time in dungeons.

My main complaint is of the inconsistent difficulty there is in trying to obtain the 5 stats sets that can’t be crafted.

i actually feel inclined to agree here.

when i heard about their approach to crafting and gear, i was really excited.

i was hoping that the system would be something like this.

-crafting would produce gear and “insignia/inscriptions”
-the gear would look “generic” (this part is how it is now, and its fine)
-the insignia’s get added in during the crafting process to determine the stats (which funnily enough is how it works now)
-if you are unhappy with your look/want something to do… then you could go out and earn your alternate gear appearences from other activities (dungeons/WvW/sPvP/karma/story etc.)

that way crafting would be the central pivotal part of the economy as it is the part you NEED to do to get stats (sPvP broke away and thats fine, and WvW is also fine offering karma sets with the power vitality for peeps who want to level solo via WvW)

so yeah the system is fine… it just didn’t go far enough me thinks

all stat combination should have been availible for crafting, mats varying for all of them… it creates this nice balance between crafters and gatherers and stuff…

what might have been super awesome would be some method of making different stat combinations “rarer” so requires discovery or something…… but i don’t think that would work in practise

so conclusion, everything about crafting is “good”, i just don’t think they went far enough… and the not including all stat combinations is an example of that.

unfortunately, it is something that will not change.

FWIW – aside all the other issues with crafting – I just hope it’s an oversight. Also made small suggestion in the barrel of suggestions forum here
