Unsellable, Soul/Account bound crafting materials...
lol, yeah, I’ve got an account bound apple of all things. I’m literally never going to use it, it just sits there worthlessly. Some other fruit too, I think.
In general, a lot of the bound materials are (or can be) acquired through karma. (I actually don’t remember any that are bound that can’t be obtained with karma, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that there aren’t any.) I’d guess the reason for this is that the item system doesn’t differentiate between methods of acquisition, so however you get the item, if you could have bought it with karma, it’s bound. (Example: Loaves of bread are bound, because there are places you can buy them with karma… so even if you make them yourself they’re still bound.
So short version: because they don’t want people selling for gold things they buy with karma (at least not directly; buying ingredients with karma and selling finished products is fine.) As to why that is, I’m not sure (though I have a few theories I’ll keep to myself, since I have little evidence to back them up).
Anything made with ingredients brought with Karma cannot be sold as final product is account bound.
All of the items I am referring to I never bought with Karma or any other currency. I got all those from my harvesting and drops.
What items are they?
I have an apple and an orange and a banana that are account bound- I think I got them as a reward/drop somewhere.
I think I’ll have to go make them into something to see if I can mail it- I have never had trouble mailing or selling items made with Karma bought recipes or ingredients.
Mostly the items I am referring to are food items. For instance, apples, almonds, etc. I have a bunch of these ingredients and I don’t cook in game.
It’s because, as people said above, they CAN be bought with karma, thus are all considered karma items and thus are bound.
