Q:

I have noticed that some legendary weapons are in a non complete stage and was wondering if Arena net plans to do an update to the legendary weapons to add the missing things from some of the legendary weapons.

For example the legendary focus known as the minstrel has no special footprints, no special effects of any kinda, no particle effects, and no special sounds.

While on the other hand the legendary great sword known as twilight has special footprints, special particle effects that trail off the sword, an aura the envelops the player, changed weapon animations, and is flashy enough that you stand out in a crowd while standing still.

TL:DR
So in a future update will the rest of the legendary weapons all be updated to be on equal ground with things like Twilight and Sunrise?

PS this would also average out the demand for all the precursors as there would be an equal demand for all the legendaries as they would all be cool.

You’ll also see more Legendary items in the future and an update to our existing Legendary weapons. Legendary items were always intended to be on par with other “best-in-slot” items. So fear not, all existing Legendary weapons, which are currently on par with Exotics, will be upgraded to be on par with Ascended weapons at the same time that we add Ascended weapons to the game. Thus Legendaries will remain “best-in-slot” items. All Legendary items going forward will be of Ascended power. We also have plans to add more fun ways to acquire Legendary precursor items with a more “scavenger hunt” feel than they are acquired currently.
The new additions in November are just the start of our item progression initiative. We’re going to add tons of new high-level content to Guild Wars 2 in the future. As we introduce the new high-level content, we’ll also roll out complimentary Ascended and Legendary items (to say nothing of the other rewards you can earn by playing the content).

The reason off-hand weapons don’t have an aura or footprints is… well imagine what happens if you have 2 different legendaries.

But they have other effects to compensate for it, some legendaries without auras/footprints have changed skill animations(think the dreamer shooting rainbows)

That’s bullkitten…necros, rangers, warriors and others can equip combinations of Bolt, Incinerator and Frostfang even though all of them have a footprint effect….considering that the Eternity was not finished (the devs admitted that it’s lackluster), I’d say that some of the worse legendaries might also get some love in the future

This is dumb, and you obviously have no idea what these legendaries look like. The minstrel and meteorlogicus both have absolutely no special effects, with the exception of meteorlogicus being really big. The moot, the predator, and quip all have no footprints, and they additionally all have extremely lackluster particle/sound effects. Kudzu and frostfang both have footprints, but are extremely ordinary other than that, with frostfang being worse than kudzu. They look nice, but they don’t shout “legendary.” The incinerator looks nice, and has footprints, but unfortunately, the daggers are so tiny, they are not even noticable unless you are really really looking for them.

Basically, the vast majority of “legendary” weapons in this game are pathetic, and not worth the title. Anet needs to revamp a massive amount of these, adding footprints, sound effects, particle effects, and other interesting effects, because right now the only fantastic legendary weapons are the greatswords, and theres only 3 or so other than the greatswords that are even worth looking at.

Bolt for example had it’s sound fixed over Halloween.

I would too, and perhaps a music note wherever you step.

As for off hand legendary why not make it so that one footprint is for one legendary and the other footprint is for the other legendary. you have 2 feet after all. This could lead to some cool combos if you had an ice and a fire legendary then you could have one footprint being all flaming and the other all icy.

There’s been multiple topics pressing for a developer response on the lack of effort that went into certain Legendaries (The Minstrel being one), yet no response. At this point, it should be pretty apparent they only care about hammers, staffs, and swords..

I totally agree with this topic and the devs need to look into re-skinning or making some legendaries up to par with the 2 GS and hammer… Some legendaries are lacking so bad you can’t even notice them. In my mind all legendaries take the same amount of effort to craft, thus they all need to be equally epic

When designing legendaries….two things have to be answered yes in order for it to be successful.

1. Is the weapon unique enough visually, that it stands alone as the only one of its kind?
2. Is the weapon visual enough to be noticed by anyone walking or running by, and instantly knowing its a legendary?

If either of those are no, then the weapon has failed. And on that, many legendaries are a failure.

Id like to point out too, even though most have not seen, but the Eternity Legendary Greatsword (combine of Sunrise and Twilight)…is an utter failure. Its neither unique in its own right, nor is it distinguished at all that anyone looking at it could determine if you have a Sunrise/Twlight or Eternity….plus it has no footprints.

They may very well add more effects, but I am fairly certain that post was simply related to what they continued to talk about, which was peoples’ fears over their legendary weapon’s effectiveness stat-wise becoming obsolete.
