I am at 92 in cooking and need to get to 100 to work on the following recipe, yet I cant afford vanilla bean on the AH, is there a good place to find these??

Follow any number of guides, but this one’s pretty good.

If you’re still after Vanilla Beans (maybe you’re a recipe completionist like me), you can gather them yourself from Herb Seedlings in Metrica Province and Caledon Forest. They seem to drop with high regularity (about 40 – 50% of the time) there.

Vanilla beans you can get (or at least I do) from the Sylvari starting area Caledon Forest. The herb patches there usually give me 3-5 Vanilla beans per harvest. Good look on your cooking!

I agree you will need these btw in the end. so hold onto them.

It was a big blunder tho for them to leave the recipes for the lower level mf items in the game in this discipline but make it so that you won’t really find any vanilla beans until level 50-60. Been there done that got the tshirt.

Cooking is pretty cheap, just did 0-400 on an alt. Cost me i think ~2gold 20 silver? Used karma on my main to get alot of the ingredients as well. It gets progressively CHEAPER the higher you get in cooking, which is weird heh. The last 125 levels or so cost me almost nothing.

They increased the drop rate of vanilla during the Halloween patch . Besides Caledon and Metrica, you can also get it in sparkfly fen, mount malestrom, and brisban wildlands. It should drop in bloodtide as well, but I’ve never gotten any there for some reason.
