Q:
What do I do with Armorsmithing at 400?
When you reach 400, you can buy recipes for exotic insignias at the vendor, and make yourself an exotic level armor set (with a new skin) This requires ectoplasm though, so it’s quite expensive and a long time goal.
I think there are possibilities of making money, but you need to play the trading post and craft the right items at the right time, and I’m not the right person to answer how
Armoursmithing sorta sucks in comparison to Weaponsmithing.
There are so many unique and cool-looking weapon skins you can make, but no armour skins as far as I know.
Do you even lift, bro?
As Stylva mentioned, you can craft yourself an exotic set of armor. This has the possible advantage of allowing you to cherry-pick the stats you want, although Temple armor, available for karma in Orr, is comparable and comes pre-equipped with valuable runes.
Additionally, it enables you to craft certain Gifts used in legendary/exotic crafting. The unique and cool-looking weapon skins which Oglaf mentioned comes up here – many of the more esoteric exotic-quality weapons require Gifts in their construction, and are assembled via the Mystic Forge, so in that regard armorsmithing might have opened up some interesting weapon choices for you.You will also be able to discover some rune recipes using cores and lodestones, but I doubt this would be a profitable enterprise, other than for personal use.
Beyond that, there’s not a whole lot you can do with Armorsmithing. Like all crafting professions, the market is saturated with equipment being sold at-cost, so making money through crafting is a very tricky task at best, and virtually impossible at worst.
Do you think you could go into a bit more detail about that “Gift” thing? They look impractically expensive to craft. Are they?
