What does timegated mean?
It means the devs want you to waste your time getting mats to craft things that can only be made once every 24 hours per piece.

But have no fear, if you have gold (around 65g or so) you can skip the timegate.
You’ll have to grind stuff for it still, though.
Hi, I’ve been seeing this term in almost all Ascended crafting threads but it’s never explained. What does it mean?
“Timegate” in this context refers to an in-game limitation put on the manufacturing. Manufacturing Deldrimor Steel Ingot and Spiritwood Plank has a 24 hour cooldown, making it so that you can only make 1 of them every 24 hours.
People are also looking at it as if they would only ever make 1 weapon. When you make a greatsword you use more deldrimor than spiritwood, but you can still make your daily spiritwood and have that to put towards an ascended that needs more wood than metal.
Oh I see, thanks for the explanations guys!
‘time gate’, in this context, means that you have to do 30 dungeon runs, 30 world events, and kill 30 champions, then just buy the things that Anet thinks time gatting means from the TP.
I laughed hysterically for like 30 minutes when I found out that the ‘time gated’ material can just be bought off the TP. Out of all ascended items that could be tradable, the only ones that Anet wants you to have a limited supply of is /purchasable/, so there is no limited supply. my roommates looked at me funny for being beat red and crying.
