Q:
What is the POINT??????
A:
You are trying to craft Ascended gear (Grand master level), it’s the highest level crafting in the game. It can take weeks to a month just to get & make materials for a single weapon and several months to make Ascended armor.
Try learning how to make gold with your 500 level Weapon smith crafting first, then start making Ascended material.
Hint:
Run 3 or more World Bosses for Dragonite per day
Run 3 or more Dungeon paths for Gold, plus Empyreal Fragments & Bloodstone Dust
Use Dungeon Tokens to buy & Salvage Dungeon weapons & armor for materials.

Well, The Gift of Blades is not a weapon not does it go toward making a weapon. That’s why weaponsmith can’t craft it. It goes toward a backpiece, which is like a piece of armor, you wear it. Which is why the armor crafting professions make it.

Basic lesson here, do research BEFORE you spend money (which you didn’t have to BTW you can get to 500 relatively inexpensively if you’re patient). It has nothing to do with Anet that you made rash, and inpatient decisions.
If you had done research before hand you would have known
-leatherworking is the cheapest Gift of Blades
-ascended crafting is time gated
-The least expensive way to level crafting
-That recipes tell what craft you need to make them
Sorry if this isn’t what you want to hear you kittened up, everyone does at some point try to learn from it. There are less forgiving places to make mistakes than a video game.
Now that I have been summarily spanked. Let me say that my comments were purely my “opinion”. While I understand the system and the need to take time and know the thousand of recipes by heart, some folks don’t have all the time in the game that others do. I feel the crafting situation in this game is too complex and that system was made by the Dev’s (that’s my opinion). By the way. I have crafted Asended Back Pieces (Armor) with my weaponsmith. Did one for my Ranger.
Thanks for your opinions and help.
When guild wars 2 was coming out they talked about how they didn’t want people to grind or deal with time gated content or have p2w scenarios… glad they didn’t change their mind
Unless Anet are planning a lot more uses for these time gated items, do we still really need the 1 per day restriction, at least make it 5 a day.

It still makes sense because crafters can sell their daily bolt/ingot etc. for some profit to those who are impatient.
Also, in case they bring out a new recipe that requires ascended mats, it prevents market shocks for t2-5 mats.

We the players might not but ANet will always need it. One of the reasons for the restriction is to get people to log in.
Just buy it from the auction house. It’s not like you save that much money from crafting your own.
If it is actually profitable, you can make one everyday and sell.
It seemed the price to craft is about 3 gold. 4 gold to buy it from auction house. If you just buy from auction house, you’ll waste 15 gold to craft yourself. And for the next 15 days if you sell it everyday you can make 6 gold profit back, so you waste about 9 gold.

Well, apparently you don’t have any issue throwing money (dollars) at a problem. So just buy some more gems, convert to gold, and buy the other 14 deldrimore ingots you need. (Since even if you have multiple crafts that can make the lump of mithrillium, you can still only make 1)
Next time, do a little research into what you’re planning on doing first. Rather than just jumping in, throwing money at it, and then getting kittened off when it doesn’t work 100% how you assumed it would. Anyone that has paid any attention to what’s been going on with crafting has known that the ascended base materials (lumps, globs, thread) would be time gated to once per day. It was something that was kittened about for months and even brought up during the progression CDI.

If you do not have a lot of free time, why are you playing a MMO?
Remember
long term goals = long term players
short term goals = short term players
I think, one of the issues with guild wars 2 is, too much content is short term, like the 2 weeks and done living world content. I was surprised by how few players there were in Dry Dock last night. If all the content could be done in just a few days or weeks, I don’t think there would many players left in the game!
Crafting at Grand Master level is one of the few pieces of long term content in the game.
Like a couple of others have said, buy the rest of the materials you need on the TP…
You should easily be able to afford the Bolts of Damask, Deldrimor Ingots, etc. The only issue might be the Vision crystals but to be honest, this game isn’t a pay to win. Paying certainly gives you an advantage but why should you get the best armour in the game just because you can afford to throw loads of money at it when there’s people out there doing at least 3 world bosses a day, 5+ dungeon runs, fractals, etc etc just to be able to afford the items they want?
Carefull, we got a smartwhit here! Love the ???? mark usage.
Money aside, i have to agree this game has the most impractical and comboluted crafting system of any mmo i have played, and i have played several. Tho this game has several most impractical and comboluted things, right from the start not being able to customize your action bar to crafting and beyond, so its kind of a trend.

1 – you don’t need to memorize 1000’s of recipes, just look at the bottom of recipe to notice what profession it is.
2 – There is plenty of documents and articles out there regarding ascending crafting since it has been out for 8+ months
