Now that the only way to get the best gear is to do the new dungeons, what is the point of crafting?

power level, each profession gives 11 levels, easy to power level your low accounts if you farm mats

I know about that, I’ve used it on several of my characters. However, if that’s all it exists for, isn’t it just a grinding mechanic, which supposedly wasn’t the direction this game was going?

I am going to max out all of my crafting skills for a few reasons:

1. I want the Master Crafter title.

2. I am holding out for the day when crafting will become useful. I want to be maxed out and ready to take full advantage. Yes, I do realize that this day will probably never come.

3. Money burns holes in my pockets. When I have some I need to spend it, and this is a healthy outlet for me.

4. I love being able to craft my own gear. It may end up being more expensive than buying off the TP, but I like the satisfaction of knowing that I made it myself.

5. I enjoy crafting for my friends/guildies. I have already made 2 full exotic sets for other people free of charge.

all of the above re: @Dietere’s post. i love crafting my own gear as well. i’ll farm the mats and/or get them off TP, run to the TP, pick it up, and go back and craft : ))) donno why but it does give that sense of satisfaction.

i guess another point would be for the Legendary Gifts for those who haven’t gotten them yet, or plan to in the future.

I agree with Dietere. I simply craft for fun and I’m close to have everything at 400. That was a lot of fun for me

quick question, though not to rerail the topic.. did you guys do it across all your characters? or all on one? : )) i onno why, i already have 3 on one of mine (silly mistake switching early on to another craft, and it was already lvl 80+ so i didn’t wanna start over on an alt) and i kind of like having it all on one. though would be a waste of silver to keep relearning, etc…

but yes, i do like crafting! i love the “discovery phase” and can’t wait to get started on cooking : ))

I’m still crafting exotic gear for myself to use if they have the stats I want. Ascended gear has not been fully released yet, I haven’t seen anything about a specific timeline or anything that would definitely exclude improvements to the crafting system from being useful when more ascended gear are released.

I don’t know what the point of crafting may be for the future, but the point of crafting now hasn’t changed much (except for jewelcrafting)

People are overreacting on a change that will take time, i.e. MONTHS to fully be in effect.

But, the end of the world is now, with a backpack and a ring.

To the OP:
We will never know if crafting could become profitable in the future. Remember, if many people stop crafting, there will be less supply, price will raise and then crafting will become more profitable again.

Keep your art, maybe it could be needed.
